Overview
A growing mortgage company is hiring Loan Officer Assistants to support Loan Officers throughout the front end of the mortgage process, from initial borrower contact through contract acceptance. This role is focused on borrower intake, loan applications, income analysis, loan structuring, documentation, pipeline updates, and preparing complete files for Processing.
 
Responsibilities
• Support Loan Officers throughout the mortgage process from borrower intake through contract acceptance
• Contact borrowers after appointments are scheduled by the Loan Officer
• Conduct borrower interviews and complete mortgage applications over the phone
• Review online applications for accuracy, missing information, and required documentation
• Gather financial information and ensure applications are complete and accurate
• Calculate and analyze borrower income, including salaried, hourly, commission, bonus, self-employed, and other income types
• Structure loan scenarios and identify appropriate loan products based on borrower qualifications
• Review credit, income, assets, and liabilities to determine eligibility
• Maintain knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, Non-QM, new construction, and other loan program guidelines
• Collect and review required borrower documentation
• Follow up consistently through phone calls, emails, and text messages to obtain missing items
• Cross-reference borrower documents and update the loan application based on documentation received
• Communicate with Loan Officers, borrowers, real estate agents, listing agents, and title companies
• Provide timely and accurate pipeline updates to Loan Officers
• Maintain accurate loan records, notes, tasks, communications, and loan activity in Salesforce
• Track milestones, deadlines, and loan status updates
• Prepare complete loan files for transfer once the borrower is under contract
• Ensure required documentation has been collected and reviewed before handoff to Processing
• Communicate file-specific concerns or outstanding items during the handoff process
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Loan Officers being supported
Qualifications
• 3 years of mortgage experience
• Experience taking mortgage loan applications over the phone
• Strong income calculation and income analysis experience
• Ability to structure loan scenarios
• Strong understanding of mortgage guidelines
• Experience with Conventional, FHA, VA, Non-QM, new construction, and other mortgage loan programs
• Ability to review online applications and identify needed supporting documentation
• Ability to cross-reference borrower documents and update loan applications accurately
• Experience reviewing credit, income, assets, and liabilities to determine borrower eligibility
• Strong communication skills with Loan Officers, borrowers, real estate agents, listing agents, and title companies
• Strong pipeline management, organization, follow-up, and documentation skills
• Salesforce, LendingPad, and Microsoft proficiency
• NMLS license preferred and will be required to obtain within first few months of employment
• Broker shop or correspondent lender experience preferred
• Ability to work fully remote
