Job description

Sandhills State Bank is seeking a motivated and experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our growing lending team. In this role, you will be responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, building strong relationships with borrowers, realtors, and referral partners, and guiding customers through the loan process from application to closing. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid or remote work arrangement while serving the communities we are proud to call home.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit and originate residential mortgage loans including conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and other applicable loan products
  • Collect and review loan applications, financial documents, and credit information to assess borrower eligibility
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including RESPA, TRID, HMDA, and fair lending laws
  • Partner with processors and underwriters to facilitate timely and accurate loan closings
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with borrowers throughout the loan process, setting accurate expectations and providing outstanding customer service

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of mortgage loan origination experience
  • Active NMLS registration/license or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Strong understanding of residential mortgage products and underwriting guidelines
  • Proficiency with loan origination software and standard office technology
