To thrive as a Remote Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist, you need a solid understanding of HR policies, leave laws (such as FMLA and ADA), and experience in employee case management, often supported by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with HRIS platforms (like Workday or ADP), case management software, and relevant certifications (such as SHRM-CP) is typically required. Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and empathetic communication are essential soft skills for managing sensitive employee situations remotely.
