Job description

Position Overview

Downtown Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our community-focused therapeutic team. This full-time remote position allows you to provide impactful mental health services from the comfort of your home, while maintaining a collaborative approach to client care. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the emotional and psychological well-being of clients through direct therapeutic interventions.

About the Organization

At Downtown Counseling Services, we are committed to offering compassionate mental health support tailored to individuals, couples, and families in need. Our dedicated team strives to create a safe and supportive environment, fostering personal growth and healing. We recognize that mental health is essential for overall wellness and are passionate about empowering our clients to live fulfilling lives. Operating as a community health clinic, our mission extends to ensuring accessible mental health care for all, especially in underserved populations in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Work Environment

This role is entirely remote, providing flexibility while maintaining a strong connection with our team and clients. As a member of a diverse group of mental health professionals, you will leverage technology to collaborate effectively with colleagues, attend virtual supervision and training sessions, and engage with clients through secure online platforms. Our team is characterized by mutual support, ongoing education, and a shared commitment to best practices in mental health care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate individual therapy sessions, tailoring treatment to meet clients' unique needs and goals, while also conducting group therapy sessions to foster community support and shared experiences.
  • Monitor client progress throughout the therapeutic journey, adjusting treatment plans based on real-time feedback and measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to develop and implement comprehensive intervention strategies that address both mental and physical health.
  • Engage with clients' support systems through family counseling initiatives, helping caregivers navigate the challenges associated with mental health management.
  • Proactively identify and address behaviors or patterns that may hinder recovery, applying evidence-based techniques to facilitate positive change.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and treatment plans, adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinic guidelines.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The clients you will serve are diverse, encompassing a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns. Special attention is given to underserved populations in Fort Lauderdale, with a focus on fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. You will work with individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families, adapting your therapeutic approach to meet the varying needs of each client.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required, with a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or similar fields strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Mental Health Counselor, with a solid understanding of therapeutic practices and ethical guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear and effective interactions with clients and team members.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all client interactions.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused brief therapy.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote counseling techniques is a plus.
  • Relevant training or certifications specific to mental health counseling will enhance your application.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 101,000, commensurate with experience and productivity metrics. We value our employees and provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • An attractive sign-on bonus upon joining the organization.
  • Support for ongoing professional development and continued education in the mental health field.
  • Access to long-term stock incentive plans to promote a sense of ownership and investment in our collective success.
  • A work-life balance approach with paid time off and flexible scheduling options.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Downtown Counseling Services, we believe in nurturing talent and providing avenues for personal and professional growth. As you gain experience and develop your skills, there are opportunities for advancement into supervisory roles, specialized therapeutic services, or administrative positions within the organization.

Why Join Our Team

We are looking for passionate mental health professionals who are truly committed to making a difference in the lives of others. Joining Downtown Counseling Services means being part of a caring and collaborative team focused on client success and community well-being. If you are enthusiastic about helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges and are eager to contribute to a supportive work culture, we invite you to apply.
