Platform Engineer - PERN Linux system/Devops III
Location: Madison, WI (Remote)
Candidate should be local to WI.
Duration: 5 to 6 months extendable

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize our on-premises commercial software applications built on PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, and Node.js. The ideal candidate will be responsible for deploying, monitoring, securing, and scaling the PERN stack infrastructure within a Linux-based virtualized environment. This role requires expertise in database administration, Linux system management, scripting/automation, and security best practices. This role also includes app administration, installation, deployments, configurations, versioning, app patching, performance monitoring and optimizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Administration & Maintenance

  • Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including backups, replication, indexing, and query performance tuning.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Express.js, React, and Node.js applications on Linux virtual machines. This includes NGINX and PM2 platforms.
  • Oversee on-premises system infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system, application, and network issues.

Security & Operations

  • Review system hardening, data encryption, and access control policies align with security best practices.
