Job description

About Datadog

We're on a mission to build the best platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams. We operate at a high scale - trillions of data points per day - providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, and application tracing for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our newly established Source Security team within our SDLC Security org. This role will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving our local and remote coding agent sandboxing solution. These sandboxes are critical to how we enable thousands of Datadog engineers to use coding agents securely and effectively, minimizing risk and empowering. You will work with technologies such as MacOS Seatbelt and Linux Landlock to ensure coding agents are secure from their execution environment all the way out to production nodes.

You'll join at an ideal time to make a big impact as the need for robust supply chain security is higher than it's ever been. Datadog as a platform is growing fast and is used very widely, and the continued and exciting expansion of our product portfolio requires agile thinkers with a deep grounding in software engineering fundamentals.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You'll Do:

  • Write highly performant software, contributing to and maintaining the codebase of our sandboxing solutions
  • Help drive the technical roadmap for both local and remote agentic security in Datadog, building safeguards and provable integrity mechanisms throughout the entire SDLC
  • Take a user and UX focused approach, ensuring that our security is pragmatic but actionable
  • Help guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in Datadog's incident response efforts.
  • Have a direct impact on users and the overall trust of our platform.

Who You Are:

  • Fluent in one or more modern coding languages (Python, Go, JavaScript, Rust  etc.)
  • Proven track record of working with platform engineering teams and delivering systems leveraged by multiple engineers
  • You are able to work closely with engineering and DevOps teams to integrate security seamlessly into the development process
  • You are familiar with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and Kubernetes based development.
  • An excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively through complex technical problems with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high growth environment, and able to adapt strategies and solutions in response to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Bonus points:

  • Passionate about building products that engineers love and believe in the true outcome of DevSecOps
  • Familiar with Linux internals, systems programming, or networking fundamentals
  • Expert with MacOS Seatbelt or Linux Landlock

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
