These roles can include research, data analysis, regulatory affairs, medical writing, or sales within the life sciences industry. Advances in technology allow professionals to conduct virtual experiments, collaborate with teams globally, and analyze complex biological data remotely. Many remote positions require strong communication skills, proficiency in digital tools, and a solid understanding of scientific principles. Companies hiring for these roles may include pharmaceutical firms, biotech startups, academic institutions, and research organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a remote life science position?

To excel in a Remote Life Science role, candidates typically need a background in biology, chemistry, or a related field along with strong analytical and research skills. Familiarity with industry-standard tools like electronic lab notebooks, statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python), and relevant certifications such as a Life Sciences degree or specialized credentials may be required. What are the typical challenges of working remotely in a life science role?

One of the main challenges of working remotely in a Life Science role is maintaining effective communication and collaboration with team members who may be located in different time zones or regions. Utilizing collaboration tools, project management platforms, and virtual meetings becomes essential to stay engaged with colleagues and up-to-date on project progress. Despite these challenges, remote roles offer enhanced flexibility and often allow for a greater focus on in-depth research or data analysis, contributing to both personal and professional growth in the life sciences field.

OUR MISSION

Perry Health is rethinking chronic care through a fully remote, continuous care model. We provide expert diabetes education and clinical management for Medicare patients, delivered by a comprehensive team of specialized Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, and Accountability Coaches.

Our model integrates high-level clinical expertise with real-time data from cellular-connected glucometers and advanced CGM management. By bridging the gap between physician visits with proactive, data-driven support, we deliver life-changing outcomes for our members.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) passionate about remote care delivery. In this role, you will lead diabetes education and management by conducting phone visits for initial member consultations. You will be responsible for evaluating diagnoses, medications, and lab results to assess member acuity and validate candidacy and continuation in our clinical program. Additionally, you will be identifying and prescribing CGMs (Continuous Glucose Monitor) for applicable members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide call-based care to members in Perry Health's Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) program.
  • Deliver swift, empathic care to members and assess their clinical competencies.
  • Evaluate medical history and data to determine member eligibility for the clinical program.
  • Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for practice-wide escalations.
  • Collaborate with the broader care team — including RNs, RDs, and Accountability Coaches — to reinforce clinical goals and SMART goal progression.
  • Adhere to Perry Health policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures to ensure ongoing clinical quality and compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution; active certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • License: Valid, unencumbered state nurse practitioner license required. Multi-state licensure required.

Current priority need states are Alabama, Utah, and Iowa.

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience managing patients with diabetes.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and behavior change theory is a plus.
  • Skills: Motivated learner, willing to acquire proficiency with the necessary technology (computers, software applications, phone systems); experience or training in Motivational Interviewing to support sustainable behavior change is a plus.
  • Traits: Creative thinking, an eye for detail, ability to work independently, a positive attitude, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced atmosphere while collaborating with diverse groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Language: Spanish-speaking highly preferred.
COMPENSATION & PAYMENT TERMS

Contractors are paid on a monthly basis following Net 30 payment terms.

Clinical Pay: $30.00 per completed consult. Consults are scheduled in 20-minute slots and require a minimum of 15 minutes of engagement time per member — inclusive of live conversation, chart review, and care coordination — for the visit to be billable. Payment is issued for completed, billable visits.

Non-Clinical Pay: $30.00/hour flat rate for required meetings and training.

OUR VALUES
  • Our patients are our purpose: We understand that the decisions we make have an impact on our patients' health. We are a healthcare company above all else. The choices we make are always in the best interest of our patients.
  • Bring your best self: The authenticity of our team drives our innovation. We show up for each other and our patients every day. Your teammates will count on you for motivation and support, and you should expect the same in return. Conversely, recognize when you are not at your best so you can seek support and take time to recharge.
  • Own your ideas and your results: Each member of the team contributes to the growth of Perry. Identify problems, seek solutions that maximize impact. Ownership is key; seek out support from team members, and take accountability for the results of your efforts.
  • Move fast, but with purpose: Consistent, rapid growth is expected. Set goals, work with purpose, assess, reassess, and pivot when necessary. Perfection should not impede progress. Ego should not prevent reevaluation. Each day will provide opportunities for learning and growth and will move us closer to our goals.
  • Good ideas come from anywhere: Ideas, good and bad, come from every level of the organization. Employees at all levels are empowered to share their ideas and feedback. The whole of Perry is greater than the sum of its parts. All ideas are considered, and when a decision is made we will move forward together.

We are building an environment where every Perry Health team member can thrive, feel a sense of belonging, and do the best work of their careers.
