Position Overview

Are you a compassionate and dedicated licensed mental health professional looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others? Join our team as a Remote Licensed Mental Health Counselor at the First Responder Mental Health Clinic. In this full-time role, you will provide accessible virtual therapy services to clients, ensuring that they receive the mental health support they need without the financial pressure of operating a private practice. Our clinic is committed to creating a supportive and structured environment that enhances therapeutic outcomes.

About the Organization

The First Responder Mental Health Clinic is a dedicated community health clinic located in vibrant San Francisco, California. Our mission is to improve mental health outcomes for first responders and their families, who face unique stressors and mental health challenges due to the nature of their work. We focus on employing evidence-based practices to provide top-notch therapeutic services that uphold the highest ethical standards and prioritize client confidentiality.

Work Environment

This role is entirely remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while still being an integral part of a close-knit team. You will utilize a secure, HIPAA-compliant digital platform that ensures privacy and facilitates seamless scheduling and documentation processes. As a part of our organization, you will collaborate with experienced professionals and participate in ongoing training and development opportunities, promoting both your personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct virtual therapy sessions via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, ensuring a safe space for clients to share their experiences.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness strategies to facilitate client progress.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs and adjust these plans based on their evolving circumstances.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients, helping them navigate personal and professional challenges effectively.
  • Regularly assess client progress and modify therapeutic approaches as needed, maintaining accurate records and documenting session notes within our digital systems.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on first responders, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and their families. This client population often confronts unique stressors and recovery periods related to their high-pressure work environments. As such, an understanding of the nuances related to first responder mental health is critical, along with a commitment to providing culturally sensitive care.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.
  • An active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC in California is mandatory.
  • At least two years of experience in outpatient counseling or telehealth settings.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for clinical documentation, scheduling, and remote client engagement.
Preferred Experience

While we require a minimum of two years of experience, candidates with a background specifically working with first responders or in trauma-informed care will be given preference. Additionally, familiarity with digital therapy tools and experience in a remote working environment will enhance your application.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 90,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to a foundational salary, we provide comprehensive benefits designed to support employee wellness, including:

  • 401(k) plan with employer contributions to secure your financial future.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance packages.
  • Life insurance coverage for additional peace of mind.
  • Flexible work hours, with sessions typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
