Job Description

Reporting directly to a Licensed Clinician Supervisor, and under the supervision of a Licensed Clinician Supervisor, the Junior Associate Clinician (JAC) will provide mental health services, including but not limited to individual and partner/family counselling, clinical intake/evaluation, crisis intervention, therapeutic activities, community presentations, and clinical case management. The JAC will increase competence with behavioral health service provision and gain supervised clinical hours for licensure while providing the appropriate level of behavioral health services and substance use disorder services for Wombat MHS clients.

The JAC will provide services identified through a biopsychosocial assessment and promote health and wellness through advocacy and education. The JAC is responsible for implementing treatment techniques for resolving issues identified in the treatment plan and will actively consult with fellow behavioral health providers regarding treatment modalities, case studies, interventions, and client care.

The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with solid organizational skills, strong communication skills, high adaptability, willingness to learn, comfort with learning and utilizing new software and technologies, as well as the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Complete behavioral health intakes, bio-psychosocial assessments; develop treatment plans that address the collaborative clinical goals of clinician and client and document treatment progress notes; provide treatment termination & case closure. 
• Provide crisis counseling/intervention to clients and their social networks (i.e., partners, significant other, spouse, and immediate family member[s]). 
• Provide individual, partners, and family counseling building a caseload with a goal of averaging 30 hours of billable services delivered per week.
• Provide case management support and services, including but not limited to behavioral health referrals, advocacy, outreach and service information for clients and their support systems.
• Expand the use of substance abuse screening tools into our care delivery systems, including evidence-based opioid risk assessment, into our Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Participate in collecting, developing, and deploying education and outreach materials.
• Identify community-based resources and referrals to facilitate access to higher-level services for clients with greater need than WMHS can directly provide.
• Maintain client behavioral health files and document services in EHR and/or other charting and data collection systems as appropriate, performed in a timely and accurate fashion in accordance with program policies and professional standards of care.
• Adhere to all applicable professional, legal, and ethical standards of behavioral health practice in the provision of services, including but not limited to: mandated reporting, provision of effective services, case documentation, client confidentiality/HIPAA regulations, ensuring client safety, and maintaining professional boundaries. 
• Attend supervisorial (group and individual) meetings, trainings, case conference meetings, and staff meetings as required. 
• Actively engage in trainings, ethics discussions, continuing education, and other processes to facilitate competence in all areas necessary to provide quality clinical services to WMHS’ populations of focus.
• Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

• Qualifying master's degree for licensure in a behavioral health field under the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences
• Current, valid registration number in appropriate behavioral health field (ACSW, AMFT, APCC).
• 0 to 500 hours of clinical supervision accrued toward licensure.
• Direct experience working with LGBTQIA2S+ populations.
• Proficiency in navigating digital applications.

• Maintain permanent residence in California and conduct job duties within the state of California.
• Reliable, consistent internet connection.
• Reliable, working cellular phone and reliable, consistent phone connection for two/multi-factor authentication.
• Private space suitable to maintain confidentiality while fulfilling job duties.
• Procure and maintain professional liability insurance appropriate to the profession providing coverage for loss, damage, or injury arising out of professional acts, errors or omissions in the amount of $1,000,000 per claim with a minimum general policy aggregate of $3,000,000. 
• Procure and maintain ongoing professional ads in both Psychology Today and TherapyDen. Profiles must note working with Wombat Mental Health Services.
• Dedication to provide quality service and outreach to WMHS' communities of focus.
• Determination and willingness to learn and acquire necessary skills to excel in the behavioral health field.
• Active involvement in supervision provided by Lead Clinical Supervisor.

Preferred Competencies

• Experience working with any of the following populations: Deaf, disabled, BIPOC, Kink/BDSM, Poly/ENM.
• Experience with gender exploration and gender-affirming care.
• Multilingual (especially ASL).
• Experience utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Knowledge Base

LGBTQIA2S behavioral health issues and effective treatment modalities; HIV behavioral health issues; ability to perform differential diagnosis using the DSM-V; various theoretical orientations; treatment modalities; clinical techniques and interventions; treatment planning; biopsychosocial assessment; crisis intervention and reporting obligations; experience in the identification, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use disorders.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This is a remote position which will allow the employee to work remotely 100% of the time. This position requires daily use of a personal computer and internet connection, a personal cellular phone and cellular phone connection.  The position also requires entering, viewing, and revising text and graphics on the computer terminal and on paper. This position may require occasional bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and moving of office materials weighing 25 pounds or less.
