Your Mission

As a Remote Nurse Practitioner on Alaska's North Slope, you'll be the primary healthcare provider for an isolated oil site workforce, delivering urgent and emergent care in a challenging and rewarding environment. Working on a rotational 3-weeks-on/3-weeks-off schedule, you'll manage everything from routine illnesses and injuries to medical emergencies and trauma, including directing triage and coordinating air evacuations when necessary. Your responsibilities include primary care, occupational health services (such as audiograms, pulmonary function tests, respirator fit tests, and drug/alcohol testing), first aid training, and health promotion initiatives. You'll also lead emergency response team training, maintain medical records, and ensure readiness of equipment and supplies—all while collaborating with offsite physician support in Anchorage. This role is ideal for a highly skilled, adaptable clinician who thrives in remote settings and values autonomy, teamwork, and making a real impact.

How You'll Contribute

Take on a unique and rewarding challenge where your skills truly make a difference. In this role, you'll be the primary healthcare provider for an isolated workforce, delivering urgent and emergent care in a rugged environment:

  • Deliver Comprehensive Care: Provide primary healthcare and occupational medical services, including diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries under a collaborative agreement with supervising physicians.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Manage everything from minor illnesses to trauma and mass casualty incidents, directing triage, patient transport, and emergency medical supervision.
  • Coordinate Evacuations: Determine when emergency air evacuations are necessary and arrange transport to advanced medical facilities in Anchorage or Fairbanks.
  • Perform Advanced Diagnostics: Conduct laboratory and electrocardiograph procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
  • Prescribe and Dispense Medications: Manage pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, in compliance with DEA regulations and collaborative agreements.
  • Lead Training and Preparedness: Build and lead volunteer medical response teams, conduct weekly training sessions, and maintain readiness of emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Promote Health and Safety: Deliver first aid training, fitness assessments, and lifestyle education programs to encourage wellness in remote environments.
  • Support Occupational Health: Perform audiograms, pulmonary function tests, respirator fit tests, and regulated/non-regulated drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ensure Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records, injury reports, and statistical logs according to company policies and medical standards.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with offsite physician support and interface with other response team sections to ensure seamless care delivery.

The Talent We're Looking For

  • Current Alaska State License / Certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • 3-5 years remote experience or emergency medicine experience
  • ATLS
  • CAOCH, an asset
  • NIOSH, an asset
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association accredited PA training program
  • Arctic work experience beneficial
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
