Its headquarters are in Toronto, Canada and its certification offices in Ohio, US and the Netherlands, and its services are provided worldwide.


Applus+ QPS services enable its customers to meet national and international regulatory requirements related to electrical safety, energy efficiency, and explosive atmospheres and include:


Testing, certification and Field Evaluation for North American Market Access

Applus+ QPS has all the necessary accreditations and recognitions to provide market access for electrical and electronic products in North America. The Applus+ QPSmarks and labels can be considered proof of compliance with applicable national standards.


This includes certification of Ex products, as well as compliance with energy efficiency requirements.


Applus+ QPS is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) by the US Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). It is also accredited as a certification and inspection body under SO/IEC 17065 and ISO/IEC 17020 standards and as an A2LA as a testing laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025).


We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Field Evaluation Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that electrical equipment and installations comply with relevant standards, codes and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical theory, industrial equipment, construction practices, and quality control measures. The Field Evaluation Inspector will work closely with customers, manufacturers, and end-users to maintain safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process. The position if full time and remote.


What you will do

  • Conduct thorough inspections of electrical equipment, control panels and switchgear in accordance with product standards and local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Review blueprints, schematics, and installation plans to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Perform inspections at various stages of manufacture to verify adherence to national product safety standards.
  • Collect data on electrical installations and prepare detailed reports on findings.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and management teams to address any nonconformances or issues identified during inspections.
  • Ensure that all work performed meets national/international product standards.
  • Report nonconformities and review corrective actions to ensure adherence to product standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, including photographs and documentation of compliance or non-compliance.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites. This is a fully remote position but travel is frequent, as much as 75% of the time. Ranging from 1 to 4 days overnight per week based on the client project needs.


What you need to Succeed

  • Extensive experience with electrical testing of equipment and systems. I.e. Dielectric strength, megger, ground bond or temperature testing.
  • Licensed Electrician or degree in Electrical Engineering is desired
  • Proficient in wiring diagrams and schematic reading and understanding drawings related to electrical systems.
  • Experience in electrical inspection with a strong focus on manufacturing safety.
  • Familiarity with construction site protocols and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of pipeline systems as they relate to electrical infrastructure is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills for data collection and reporting purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with contractors and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A solid understanding of quality control processes within the construction industry.
  • Computer proficiency and basic keyboard skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout US and internationally.
