Job description

Job Title: Part-Time Bookkeeper (Manufacturing / Multi-Currency) Employment Type: 1099 Independent Contractor Hours: Approximately 20-30 hours per week (Flexible / Immediate Need) Location: Remote or Hybrid (Hicksville, NY area)

About the Role We are seeking an execution-focused, transactional 1099 Bookkeeper for a US manufacturing and distribution subsidiary operating under a European parent company.

This is a pure roll-up-your-sleeves, daily operational accounting role. We do not need financial modeling, strategic planning, or high-level advisory. We need a disciplined professional who thrives on transactional volume, maintains immaculate audit trails, and takes complete ownership of daily ledger entry, inventory tracking, and multi-currency reconciliations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Transactional Processing: Execute day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable. Match vendor invoices to purchase orders and receiving slips (3-way match), cut payments, generate billing, and apply incoming cash receipts.
  • Inventory & Landed Cost Tracking: Log inventory movements across raw materials, components, and finished goods. Accurately assign and allocate freight, import duties, customs fees, and handling charges into inventory valuation.
  • Multi-Currency Bank & Ledger Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations across US Dollar ($) and Euro ) bank accounts, maintaining exact tracking of realized and unrealized FX differences.
  • Month-End Balancing: Tie out AP/AR subledgers to the general ledger, balance inventory accounts, clear unvouchered receipt accruals, and ensure clean, accurate books ready for parent-company reporting.
  • Document & Data Hygiene: Maintain structured electronic filing for all commercial invoices, customs paperwork, packing lists, and tax receipts.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Manufacturing/Distribution Background: Minimum of 2 years of transactional bookkeeping experience directly inside a physical inventory, manufacturing, assembly, or import/export environment.
  • Multi-Currency Operations: Demonstrated experience managing transactions across multiple currencies (specifically USD and EUR) within a subsidiary/parent structure.
  • ERP Proficiency: Proven proficiency working inside inventory-capable ERP or accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, SAP Business One, NetSuite, Sage, or equivalent).
  • Self-Directed 1099 Setup: Must operate as an independent contractor with a dedicated, secure home-office setup and immediate availability.
  • Location: Remote with preference for candidates within commuting distance of Hicksville, NY for occasional physical file review, inventory audits, or onboarding touchpoints.

What This Role Is NOT

  • This is not a Fractional CFO, Controller, or FP&A strategist position. Candidates looking to advise, manage from a high level, or delegate data entry will not find this role a good fit.
