What is a remote lab data entry?

Remote Lab Data Entry jobs involve inputting, updating, and managing laboratory data from a remote location, typically using specialized software or databases. Employees in this role may be responsible for entering test results, patient information, and other relevant data accurately and efficiently. Attention to detail and confidentiality are essential, as the information handled is often sensitive. These jobs allow workers to perform their duties from home or another off-site location, making them ideal for those seeking flexible work arrangements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote lab data entry specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Lab Data Entry specialist, you need strong attention to detail, accuracy, and proficiency in data entry, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), spreadsheets, and data processing software is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, time management, and clear communication help individuals excel in remote and deadline-driven environments. These competencies are vital to ensure the integrity of lab data, support efficient operations, and maintain regulatory compliance.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote lab data entry role, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote Lab Data Entry professionals often face challenges such as maintaining accuracy while handling large volumes of sensitive data, adapting to different lab information systems, and ensuring data security in a remote environment. To manage these effectively, it's important to establish a quiet, organized workspace, regularly review data for errors, and stay updated on privacy protocols. Collaboration with lab technicians and IT support teams can also help quickly resolve discrepancies and technical issues, fostering a smooth workflow.

Job description

Pathlabs is an end-to-end digital media partner built for agencies. We handle all aspects of our clients' digital media campaigns, so they can focus on growing their business.
Pathlabs is an extension of an agency's team, combining the best of both worlds between in-house teams and media vendors. In a product-obsessed world, we double down on service-based solutions. We focus on planning, executing, optimizing, and reporting of performance-based paid advertising campaigns - providing our clients a single point of entry into the world of digital media.
Engagement Details
  • Type: Independent contractor, project-based
  • Rate: Negotiable
  • Expected availability: 30-40 hrs/week
  • Initial engagement: September 2026 - February 2027
  • Ongoing: Project-based as capacity demands. No guaranteed minimum hours.
  • Location: Fully remote
  • Equipment: You provide your own.
  • Before you touch client data: We'll need a signed NDA and IP assignment. We handle media data for agency clients, so this isn't negotiable.
What You'll Own
  • Own data pipelines end to end, from source system to delivery
  • Design and implement ELT processes that hold up as data complexity grows
  • Build and maintain integrations with advertising platform and martech APIs - including: auth, rate limits, pagination, schema drift, and backfills
  • Design and improve the data models feeding our reporting and business intelligence tools
  • Build monitoring and alerting for data quality, so problems surface before stakeholders find them
  • Diagnose and resolve data issues, including the ambiguous ones with no obvious owner
  • Ship production-ready work: tested, validated, monitored
  • Document what you build well enough that we can operate it when you're not on a project with us
  • Make technical decisions, justify them, and raise tradeoffs early rather than after the fact
  • Give clear status updates and flag blockers fast
Required - Data Engineering
  • 4+ years building and maintaining production data pipelines
  • Strong SQL and strong Python
  • Demonstrated experience with production API integrations against third-party platforms
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar)
  • Experience with data orchestration tooling (Fivetran, Airflow, Dagster, or similar)
  • Solid data modeling fundamentals
  • Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Practical experience with data quality monitoring and validation
  • Clear written communication with both technical and non-technical people
  • AI-Assisted Development experience
Nice to Have
  • Digital advertising domain experience - Meta Ads, Google Ads, The Trade Desk, DV360, CM360, HubSpot
  • dbt or a similar SQL transformation framework
  • Experience with low-code platforms such as Retool or Airtable
  • Google Cloud Platform
  • TypeScript / Next.js
