Location: Louisville, TN

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Overview:

We're seeking an experienced Semantic Software Engineer to design and develop knowledge-driven software solutions that leverage semantic technologies, ontologies, and structured data models.

This role focuses on enabling semantic interoperability, knowledge graph integration, and standards-based data exchange across enterprise systems. The ideal candidate has deep experience with semantic technologies, data virtualization, knowledge models, and API-driven architectures.

You'll work closely with architects, ontologists, and domain experts to build scalable semantic services that improve data accessibility, consistency, and business intelligence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop semantic-enabled software components and services.

Build solutions leveraging ontologies, knowledge models, and semantic metadata.

Integrate semantic layers with APIs, backend services, and enterprise data platforms.

Develop semantic data processing, validation, and transformation logic.

Support knowledge graph integration and semantic interoperability initiatives.

Implement semantic data virtualization solutions, including R2RML mappings.

Collaborate with architects, ontologists, and business stakeholders to translate semantic models into scalable applications.

Ensure semantic consistency across data ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.

Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning.

Troubleshoot and resolve semantic data integration and interpretation issues.

Follow software engineering best practices for coding, testing, documentation, and SDLC processes.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

7+ years of Semantic Software Engineering experience.

7+ years of Data Virtualization experience.

Strong experience with ontology-driven development and structured knowledge models.

Experience implementing semantic interoperability solutions.

Knowledge graph design and integration experience.

Experience with semantic metadata and metadata-driven systems.

Experience with semantic data virtualization and R2RML mappings.

Proficiency with SPARQL, GraphQL, APIs, and backend service integration.

Experience working with semantic stores and reasoning engines.

Strong understanding of SDLC and software engineering best practices.

Experience working in Agile development environments.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Enterprise data architecture experience.

Experience building large-scale knowledge-driven applications.

Experience with standards-based data exchange models.

Experience integrating semantic technologies into analytics platforms.
