Job Description:

Position Summary: The Staff Mechanical Engineer supports new product development and sustaining engineering initiatives as a key R&D contributor. The position leads complex projects, drives design improvements, and ensures product performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Responsibilities include applying design control processes, providing technical support, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role collaborates cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and other teams, participates in continuous improvement efforts, and mentors junior engineers. Ideal candidates bring strong project management experience, expertise in CAD and electro-mechanical design, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environmentEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support new product development projects as an R&D Core Team Member. Provide Project Management support as required.
  • Apply understanding of design control process to evaluate / challenge project teams as an independent reviewer.
  • Lead sustaining projects by identifying opportunities for design enhancements and implementing changes to optimize product functionality and manufacturability.
  • Provide technical support for the current product line, addressing issues and implementing solutions to improve performance and reliability.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of design changes, test results, and product specifications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support, to ensure seamless product sustainment.
  • Ensure all product modifications comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct testing and validation of design changes to ensure they meet performance and safety criteria.
  • Maintains an understanding of all current manufacturing processes.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement activities including but not limited to Kaizen and 5S events, Problem Solving Process, Value Stream Mapping, and Transaction Process Improvement.
  • Effectively collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet businessobjectives.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures including safety and quality.
  • Travels up to 10%domesticallyand internationally.

Job Requirements:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience required OR High school diploma or equivalent plus 11 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience with project management systems (i.e. Microsoft Project, Workfront)
  • Expertise with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, and simulation extension tools.
  • Strong understanding of design control process from concept through commercialization with detailed understanding of the interdependencies of design control deliverables.
  • Must reside within a commutable distance to Pomona, CA. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience managing projects of high complexity
  • Expertise with electro-mechanical systems design
  • Experience with injection molding, rapid prototyping, and CNC programming/machinery
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Aptitude to quickly learn business systems
  • Strong verbal and technical written communication skills in English
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with other departments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data when presenting a business care
