What Does a Remote JavaScript Developer Do?

As a remote JavaScript developer, you work from home and code software or applications to meet the needs of your company. In this role, you may test software on the web, iterate software to incorporate feedback, and otherwise help meet the development requirements of your company. Like many programmers, most remote JavaScript programmers do not focus exclusively on this programming language—while it may receive the majority of your time, you may also be asked to program in other languages as needed. Remote JavaScript developers often use email, telephones, and virtual office software to communicate with other developers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Javascript Developer, and why are they important?

A Remote Javascript Developer needs strong proficiency in core JavaScript, familiarity with frameworks like React or Node.js, and a solid understanding of web development principles, usually backed by a degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Experience with code versioning tools (such as Git), package managers (like npm or Yarn), and cloud collaboration platforms is typically essential. Excellent problem-solving, self-motivation, and clear written communication skills help developers excel in distributed teams. These competencies enable the developer to deliver high-quality code efficiently while collaborating effectively in remote environments.

How do remote JavaScript developers typically collaborate with team members and manage code integration?

Remote JavaScript developers commonly use tools like Git, Slack, and project management platforms (such as Jira or Trello) to collaborate with team members. Regular video meetings and code reviews help ensure alignment on project goals and maintain code quality. Developers frequently participate in agile sprints, contributing to both front-end and back-end tasks, and often pair with colleagues in different time zones to solve problems. Clear documentation and consistent communication are key to managing code integration and fostering an effective remote workflow.

Job description

About Invoca:

Invoca is an AI-powered revenue execution platform that brings together marketing, commerce, and contact center teams to turn every customer interaction into measurable, profitable growth. Join our dynamic, fast-growing team, where innovation and collaboration are at the core of our culture.

About the Team:

Our Sales Engineering team is the technical heartbeat of the go-to-market organization. We partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering to solve complex customer challenges. We are a collaborative, "egoless" team that thrives on continuous learning and pushing the boundaries of what AI can do for our customers.

What You'll Do:Architect the Demo Ecosystem
  • End-to-End System Design: Design and maintain the "Gold Standard" demo environment, including the system architecture, database schemas, and API layers that power Invoca's technical storytelling.
  • Full-Stack Prototyping: Build functional user interfaces and dashboards that make complex AI processes "visible" and intuitive for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Scalable "Scaffolding": Create modular demo assets and "click-to-deploy" sandboxes that the broader SE team can easily customize for specific industry verticals.
  • Process Automation: Use toolsets such as Gumloop, Zapier, or Workato to automate data flows between marketing touchpoints and sales outcomes.
Lead Technical Strategy
  • Strategic Pre-Sales: Partner with Account Executives on high-value accounts to lead integration, technical discovery, and navigate complex technical blockers.
  • High-Stakes Technical Reviews: Act as the lead architect during deep-dive technical reviews with customer CTOs and Security Officers, defending the scalability, database integrity, and security of your proposed solutions.
  • AI Thought Leadership: Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure Invoca remains "AI-ready," acting as a feedback loop between the field and our core product developers.
  • Governance & Safety: Implement "Human-in-the-Loop" checkpoints to ensure AI-generated demo content is reliable, safe, and free of hallucinations.
What You Bring:
  • Business Acumen: The ability to translate a dry technical architecture into a "Value Story." You understand that the best code is useless if it doesn't solve a business pain point.
  • The "Multiplier" Mindset: You enjoy building tools that make other people successful. You are obsessed with documentation and reusable code.
  • Experience: 5+ years in Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, or Forward Deployed Engineering in a SaaS environment. Nice to Have:
  • Full-Stack Engineering DNA: You can design a multi-tier system from the database schema up to the UI. Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/Node.js.
  • Architectural Fluency: Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, Webhooks, and authentication protocols (OAuth2). You know how to connect disparate systems into a unified, automated workflow.
  • Generative AI Expertise: Practical experience with LLM orchestration (RAG, Prompt Engineering) and frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex. You have built systems where AI does tasks via function calling/tool use.

You've read this far. If you're a smart, motivated, high-integrity rock star who meets the above criteria, come join our team!
