Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer - Platform based in Netherlands.

You will join a high-performance engineering team building the core infrastructure behind a globally distributed database platform handling massive-scale workloads.
This role focuses on designing and operating highly reliable, low-latency systems that power mission-critical data infrastructure used by some of the world's largest applications.
You will work on complex distributed systems challenges, contributing directly to database performance, scalability, and reliability at scale.
The environment is highly technical, collaborative, and autonomy-driven, where engineers are trusted to take ownership of large parts of the platform.
You will also engage with users and customers to translate real-world needs into robust, production-grade engineering solutions.
This is a role for engineers who thrive in deep system work, enjoy debugging complex problems, and care about building high-quality infrastructure.
You will have direct impact on a platform serving extremely high-throughput workloads across global cloud environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain core backend systems powering a distributed database platform at large scale.
  • Develop highly reliable and performant services handling millions of queries per second in production environments.
  • Contribute to the architecture and evolution of distributed systems supporting database clustering and scaling.
  • Debug complex system-level issues across infrastructure, databases, and application layers.
  • Collaborate with engineering peers to solve challenging problems in distributed systems and performance optimization.
  • Engage with customers to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Improve system reliability, observability, and operational excellence across the platform.
  • Contribute to codebase quality through clean, maintainable, and well-tested engineering practices.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend or infrastructure systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Go, with additional experience in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases such as MySQL and related data modeling concepts.
  • Experience building or operating distributed systems at scale in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized application deployments.
  • Strong debugging skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues across multiple system layers.
  • Understanding of system performance, scalability, and reliability engineering principles.
  • Ability to work independently with high autonomy and make sound technical decisions.
  • Bonus: experience with database internals, query optimization, or consensus algorithms.
  • Bonus: contributions to open-source infrastructure or database-related projects.
  • Bonus: familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package including base salary, equity, and performance-related components.
  • Fully remote-friendly work environment with flexibility across EMEA.
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems powering global applications.
  • High-impact engineering role within a fast-growing, profitable technology company.
  • Strong engineering culture focused on autonomy, ownership, and technical excellence.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge database infrastructure and distributed systems challenges.
  • Inclusive and diverse work environment supporting continuous learning and growth.
