Remote Isolation information

What are some effective strategies for maintaining productivity and well-being when working in a fully remote, isolated role?

Working in a remote isolation role often means limited direct interaction with team members, which can pose challenges for both productivity and well-being. It's important to establish a consistent daily routine, set clear boundaries between work and personal life, and utilize digital communication tools to stay connected with colleagues. Regular check-ins with your manager or team, scheduling virtual coffee breaks, and participating in online team activities can help reduce feelings of isolation and foster collaboration. Additionally, taking scheduled breaks and creating a dedicated workspace can greatly enhance focus and job satisfaction.

Familiarity with remote desktop tools, ticketing systems, and cybersecurity protocols is essential. Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving abilities help build trust with users and resolve issues efficiently. These skills ensure timely and effective technical support, maintaining productivity and security in remote work environments.

What is a Remote Isolation job?

A Remote Isolation job typically refers to a role in industrial or technical fields where workers are responsible for isolating equipment, systems, or work areas in remote locations to ensure safety during maintenance or repair activities. This can involve shutting down machinery, closing valves, or setting up physical barriers to prevent accidental exposure to hazardous materials or energy sources. These jobs are often found in industries such as oil and gas, mining, utilities, or manufacturing, where locations may be far from urban centers. Remote Isolation workers must follow strict safety protocols and may work in challenging environments, sometimes for extended periods away from home.

Job description

Job Description:
At Penn E&R, we empower professionals to create lasting, positive impact through environmental remediation, civil engineering design, and regulatory guidance that protect ecosystems, restore land, and improve infrastructure. Whether you're cleaning up a former industrial site or designing a stormwater management system for a new development, your work here contributes to a safer, more sustainable world.
Bring your creativity, resourcefulness, and drive to Penn E&R, where every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and lead. Ready to take on what's next? Let's make it happen together!
Based in Pennsylvania, we are seeking a strategic remote hire in the state of New York to support regional growth across this targeted state market. This role is ideal for a senior-level civil/site engineer who has progressed through hands-on technical work and is ready to leverage that experience in a client-facing, growth-oriented position.
You will act as a senior technical representative in-market, helping expand our presence, win new work, and support client relationships - while remaining fully remote and closely integrated with our internal teams.
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • P.E. a plus
  • Approximately 8+ years of professional experience (mid- to senior-level)
  • Hands-on experience including, but not limited to:
    • Civil/site design
    • Grading
    • Civil 3D
  • Demonstrated technical credibility to support client-facing activities
  • A career path that reflects having "come up through the ranks"
  • Highly self-driven and self-starting
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Able to balance client relationships, technical execution (with internal support), and eventually business development activities

Company Support & Resources
We will provide you with the tools and support needed for success, including:
  • Company laptop, docking station, and dual monitors
  • Cell phone
  • Transportation support:
    • Vehicle stipend for personal vehicle or
    • Company car for business-related use
  • Support from Pennsylvania based teams

Integration & Communication
We place a strong emphasis on avoiding "remote isolation." This role includes:
  • Participation in weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings
  • Approximately 15 standing meetings throughout the year
  • Regular communication with executive leadership
  • Clear executive-level visibility and support

We know that great work happens when people feel supported both on and off the job. That's why we offer balance and benefits that support you.
  • Competitive compensation and performance-based bonuses
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits
  • Generous paid time off
  • A strong commitment to field and office safety
  • A stable, growing company
