Under the direction of the Advanced Program Director in the School of Education, the University Supervisor position is responsible for providing supervision to Alternative Administration Route principal or school counselor candidates, either virtually and/or in person. This position serves candidates located within the state of Kentucky.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate clear communication among participating stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the School of Education to monitor, assess, and provide feedback to Alternative Administration Certification Route Principal or School Counselor Candidates.
  • Be willing to schedule virtual meetings with possible travel to schools to observe and conference with Alternative Administration Certification Route Principal or School Counselor Candidates.
  • Provide mentoring plans, timesheets, track candidate progress, and additional feedback as required for Alternative Administration Certification Route Principal or School Counselor Candidates.
  • Maintain regular communication with Alternative Administration Certification Route Principal or School Counselor Candidates and District-based Mentors through virtual office hours and e-mail.
  • Maintain clear and timely records for the School of Education Advanced Graduate Programs.
  • Participate in all required trainings and functions.
  • Offer perspective that addresses the needs of all candidates, both traditional and non-traditional.
  • Respond to Alternative Administration Certification Route Principal or School Counselor Candidates questions in a timely manner (within 24-hours).
  • Communicate with the School of Education and Advanced Graduate Programs concerning issues or potential situations that could arise with candidates and other stakeholders.
  • Follow university policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A current and valid Kentucky teaching certificate in P-12 Principalship or P-12 School Counselor.
  • Master's degree and/or Rank 1 in School Principal or School Counselor.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of and interest in educational standards and initiatives.
  • Experience in teacher supervision, mentoring, and leadership.
