Job Description:
We are searching for the best talent to join our DePuy Synthes team as a Director, Hospital Operations - Spine to be preferably located in Raynham, MA. Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company.
Purpose:
DePuy Synthes is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director, Hospital Operations to lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide hospital operations strategies supporting our Spine business. This senior leadership role is responsible for optimizing field inventory operations, enabling commercial growth, advancing operational excellence, and ensuring best-in-class support for healthcare partners and sales organizations.
As a key member of the commercial operations leadership team, the Director will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Global Operations leaders to drive strategic initiatives, enhance business performance, and build scalable operational capabilities. This role will lead and develop a high-performing team while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational strategy, resource allocation, and commercial enablement.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
  • Develop and execute the long-term Hospital Operations strategy aligned with commercial objectives, business growth priorities, and customer needs. Drive accountability to Area Vice Presidents and Regional Managers
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior commercial and functional leaders, providing operational insights and recommendations that drive business performance and competitive advantage.
  • Lead the development of scalable operating models, processes, and capabilities that support sustainable growth across the organization.
  • Influence strategic business decisions through a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer requirements, and operational performance trends.
  • Develop ISO conversion models and inventory needs assessments to maximize impact of commercial transition in select markets.

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers and operational professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish talent and succession strategies that ensure organizational capability, bench strength, and long-term business continuity.
  • Drive employee engagement, professional development, and leadership capability-building across the organization.
  • Champion leadership principles and cultivate an inclusive, high-performing culture.

Operational Excellence & Inventory Strategy
  • Provide executive oversight of orthopedic consignment inventory, loaner assets, and equipment deployment strategies across the U.S. business.
  • Drive annual pull back of field inventory to meet and exceed inventory pull back targets (in excess of $240M
  • Establish enterprise inventory optimization frameworks that balance product availability, customer service, working capital, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead strategic planning , and governance processes for inventory allocation, forecasting, replenishment, and field asset utilization.
  • Represent US Commercial Organization in IBP and MBR strategy calls to ensure needs of US Sales is represented
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives that improve productivity, service levels, and overall business outcomes.
  • Champion, develop, and drive FSN strategy to improve inventory deployment effectiveness

Commercial Enablement & Growth Support
  • Partner with commercial leadership to ensure operational infrastructure and capabilities effectively support growth initiatives, market expansion, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Lead all Catalyst inventory planning and allocation activity to secure competitive conversion opportunities
  • Lead operational readiness and deployment strategies for all new product introductions, ensuring seamless execution across field and customer-facing teams.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance customer experience, accelerate adoption, and improve sales force effectiveness through operational innovation.
  • Identify means to improve P&L health through thoughtful inventory management strategies and own execution through US Sales organization

Analytics, Insights & Performance Management
  • Establish a data-driven operating framework that leverages advanced analytics to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Define and monitor key business and operational performance metrics, regularly communicating insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Utilize predictive analytics and business intelligence tools to support strategic planning, resource deployment, and investment decisions.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Enterprise Initiatives
  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives involving Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Regulatory, and Global Operations partners.
  • Drive alignment across internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of strategic priorities.
  • Sponsor transformational change initiatives designed to improve customer outcomes, operational effectiveness, and organizational agility.

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure operational processes adhere to all applicable healthcare, regulatory, quality, and company requirements.
  • Establish governance frameworks and controls that mitigate operational risk while supporting business objectives.
  • Provide executive oversight for compliance, audit readiness, and policy adherence across hospital operations activities.

Qualifications / Requirements:
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree, MBA, or other advanced degree preferred.

Experience & Skills
  • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in Operations, Commercial Operations, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Healthcare Management, Medical Devices, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of people leadership experience, including leading managers and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise-wide operational strategies that drive business growth and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and effectively lead large, cross-functional initiatives in a complex matrix environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate operational insights into strategic business recommendations.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities with experience leveraging tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, SAP, and other enterprise systems.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Medical Device, Orthopaedics, Healthcare, or related industry experience strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading large-scale operational transformation, inventory optimization, or commercial enablement initiatives.
  • Expertise in inventory strategy, field asset management, demand planning, and sales operations.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, supply chain management, and commercial execution models.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change, develop talent, and build scalable capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
