Job description

Job Type: Part-time, W2 | Remote with optional hybrid work
Hours: 16+ hours of weekly availability, with an expected caseload of approximately 10+ client hours per week
Location: Must reside in North Carolina
Pay: $48$55/hour

Company Description

Ruby Oak Nutrition is a group practice of 11 non-diet, weight-inclusive registered dietitians providing nutrition counseling for eating disorders, disordered eating, diabetes, pediatrics, chronic health conditions, and relationship-with-food concerns.

We're based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and provide both virtual and in-person care. Our practice is grounded in Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size principles, and we're committed to compassionate, identity-affirming care that helps clients move away from diet culture and toward a more peaceful and sustainable relationship with food.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced eating disorder dietitian who loves working directly with clients and wants a part-time role that leaves room for the rest of their life.

This could be a particularly good fit if you've spent several years building your skills as an eating disorder RD and want to keep doing the clinical work you love without taking on a full-time schedule or moving into management.

It may also be a good fit if you've tried working for a large telehealth company and found that the flexibility came with some significant tradeoffs: being matched with clients who weren't a good fit for your expertise, spending sessions fielding weight-loss requests that conflicted with your approach to care, or working largely on your own without regular team meetings, case consultation, or meaningful clinical support.

At Ruby Oak, you get the flexibility of remote (or hybrid), part-time work without practicing in isolation.

You'll primarily work 1:1 with adolescent and adult clients with eating disorders and disordered eating. Depending on your interests and experience, your caseload may also include clients seeking support with intuitive eating, chronic disease management, sports nutrition, or other nutrition concerns from a non-diet, weight-inclusive perspective.

Because eating disorder care is a major part of our practice, you won't be expected to constantly explain or defend a weight-inclusive approach. You'll be working alongside dietitians who share that philosophy and clients who are seeking this type of care.

What It's Like to Work Here

We're a small, collaborative practice, and we want part-time dietitians to feel like part of the teamnot like clinicians who happen to share the same logo.

You'll have access to regular team meetings, case consultation, mentorship, and CEDS supervision. You'll also collaborate with therapists, physicians, and other members of clients' treatment teams when appropriate.

At the same time, we trust experienced dietitians to do what they do well. You'll have autonomy in your sessions and flexibility in shaping your schedule and caseload.

This is a remote position, and sessions can be conducted from home via telehealth. For dietitians who enjoy some in-person work, there is also the option to work from our Raleigh office or a satellite office elsewhere in North Carolina 12 days per week.

And if part-time is exactly what you want long-term, that's great. We're not hiring you with the expectation that you'll eventually need to work more. If your needs change, however, part-time RDs have the opportunity to transition to full-time roles with a larger caseload, additional compensation, and full-time benefits.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You
  • Are an experienced eating disorder dietitian who still genuinely enjoys 1:1 client work
  • Want a sustainable part-time schedule rather than a traditional full-time clinical role
  • Value flexibility but don't want to sacrifice clinical community to get it
  • Want to work primarily with clients who are a good fit for your expertise and approach
  • Feel strongly about providing weight-inclusive, non-diet care
  • Enjoy collaborating with other dietitians and members of an interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Are comfortable working independently in sessions while also appreciating opportunities for consultation and support
Requirements
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) in good standing
  • Current North Carolina LDN at the time of application no exceptions
  • Current North Carolina resident
  • 2+ years of experience working with eating disorders, ideally in a higher level of care, eating disorder-focused private practice, or similar clinical setting
  • Strong working knowledge of Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating frameworks
  • Experience providing outpatient nutrition counseling
  • Willingness to work with both adults and adolescents
  • Comfort working independently with eating disorder clients
  • Strong computer and EMR skills
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Family-Based Treatment (FBT) and adolescent eating disorder care
  • Previous telehealth experience
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary eating disorder treatment teams
Compensation

$48$55 per hour for client-facing work, depending on experience.

Benefits
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Flexible schedule
  • Remote work
  • Optional hybrid/in-person work
  • Regular team meetings and case consultation
  • CEDS supervision
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Paid CDR registration and North Carolina licensure fees
  • Opportunity to transition to full-time employment if desired

Dietitians who choose to transition to a full-time role are also eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance; PTO and paid holidays; a CEU stipend; and short-term disability insurance.

Ruby Oak Nutrition values dietitians with different backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives. We recognize the value of lived experience alongside traditional education and professional training.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, pregnancy, genetic information, ethnicity, culture, or other protected characteristics.
