Course: Counseling Practicum
Clinical training is completed under the supervision of an approved clinical site supervisor and a faculty supervisor, providing hands-on experience in which Counselors-in-Training (CITs) build, refine, and apply counseling skills in real client settings while integrating program competencies. The faculty supervisor provides oversight of students' clinical training and documentation, facilitates required synchronous group supervision, and supports students in meeting established hour requirements (including individual supervision and direct client contact) and complying with program and applicable state licensure expectations.
Other Courses Will Include: Counseling Practicum II, Counseling Internship I, Counseling Internship II, & Counseling Internship III
What You Will Do:
  • Candidates must be available for a committed 44 weeks on either Mondays or Thursdays (their choice) for a weekly zoom call from 4:00 - 5:30 pm AZ time. These days and times are non-negotiable. Instructors take students from Practicum through Internship I and Internship II for a total of 44 weeks

What You Will Bring:
  • Doctorate degree in Counselor Education
  • Independent licensure in counseling or a closely related field (e.g., LPC, LMHC, LCPC, or equivalent)
  • OR Master's in degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or related counseling degree AND 5 years work experience as an Independent Licensed Counselor
  • Relevant training for in-person and/or distance counseling supervision
  • Relevant training in the technology utilized for supervision
  • Maintain an active membership in a recognized counseling association
  • Show evidence of experience in one or more of the following areas: counseling advocacy; research or other scholarly work; at least two years of clinical practice; or counselor education.
