Job description

Walton Signage is a well-respected, innovative company in the signage industry. The Company serves large, national or corporate accounts with turnkey installation of high quality signage systems and has been listed three times as one of Inc. Magazine's fastest growing companies.

This position is remote. We are currently recruiting for a DIRECTOR OF DESIGN AND ENGINEERING for interpreting business needs and client briefs and turning them into compelling creative solutions with oversight over creative teams including art directors, content strategists, graphic artists, designers, and engineers. This is a remote position, and the Director will work out of his/her home office.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

1. Distill abstract business concepts and client needs into elegant creative solutions.

2. Take responsibility for the creative vision and the standard of output across team members who work under them.

3. Provides solutions-oriented knowledge of signage requirements related to product manufacturing and installation.

4. Pitch ideas confidently and present the creative vision clearly to clients, as well as communicate in the same manner to members of the creative team.

5. Have strong people management and leadership skills in order to hire, develop, and inspire the creative team.

6. Ensure that all of the organization’s or client’s creative output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand.

7. Lead multiple projects from conception to completion in accordance with deadlines.

8. Produce, audit, and verify accuracy of design related products such as exterior recommendation booklets, product drawings, interior space plans, sign family documents, and brand design intent documents.

9. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

10. Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has supervisory responsibilities (up to 12 designers and design engineers).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A) preferred; five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Creative problem solving, attention to details, strong communication skills and strategic and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and determine a plan that will ensure they are met or exceeded.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
  • Extensive supervisory experience (including leadership, team building, and delegation) leading and managing a creative team.
  • A solid grasp of architectural design, construction drawings, fluency engineered drawings and a deep understanding of signage design and solid works.
  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.

Computer Skills:

Competency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Design software, particularly Corel, AutoCAD, Redit, and SolidWorks.
