Objective:

The Productย Manager (PM)ย will partner with a Productย Engineerย to successfully manage and grow their product line of business in an entrepreneurial environment withinย AutomationDirect.ย ย Theย PMย isย responsible forย defining the product line strategyย andย overseeingย allย businessย aspects ofย theirย product line - road-mapping, supplierย management, branding,ย new product introductions,ย revenueย and profit growth.ย ย Primary product ownership includesย motor controls, transformers, and circuit protectionย products.ย ย The PMย is a servant leader and worksย cross functionallyย with internal and external teams.ย ย 
ย 
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible forย maintainingย and executingย a multi-year new product roadmapย to expand presence andย relative competitive advantageย of the product lines.ย 
  • Provide analysis of market/customer needs, the competition, and market segment trends toย identifyย opportunities for new and existing products.ย 
  • Presentation of new product opportunities including thorough understanding of available market, pricing, expected market share, and overall cost of doing business.ย ย 
  • Develop and/or select new productย offeringsย forย AutomationDirectย customers.ย ย New product introduction responsibilities includeย determiningย new product requirements, branding,ย supplierย selection, negotiating supply agreements including product costs, developing marketing material for catalog and web store,ย establishingย product pricing,ย determiningย initial sales forecast,ย assistingย with a product's promotion plan, and product training for internal teams.ย 
  • Backline support for customers and internal teams.ย ย 
  • Provide support for product end of life and obsolescence.ย ย This includes evaluation of any products classified asย slow-movingย items.ย 
  • Some scheduled domestic and international travel isย required.ย

Qualifications:

  • Requires education in technical discipline with preference for BS in mechanical or electrical engineering or at least 10 years of related experienceย 
  • Requires 7 years' experience (10 years preferred) inย industrialย control & automation market.ย ย Preferred experience includesย product manager, control engineer,ย product application, control system integration, technical support, and/or product design. Similar experience in related markets such as building automation and medical equipment may be considered.ย 
  • Productย expertiseย and deep product knowledge ofย motor controls, transformers, and circuit protectionย areย preferredย 
  • Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, etc.) is desirableย 
  • Experience with CAD such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. is desirableย 
  • Mustย possessย self-confidence, organizational skills, time managementย skillsย and excellent communication skillsย 
  • Must also be able to work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skillsย
