Job Summary:

As an Insurance Product Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving the performance, pricing, and profitability of our pet insurance portfolio. You will analyze product and portfolio trends, evaluate rate adequacy, identify underwriting and pricing opportunities, and translate data into actionable recommendations that strengthen our competitive position.

Working closely with Product, Actuarial, and Underwriting, you will support the full product lifecycle - from performance monitoring to pricing enhancements to strategic portfolio decisions. This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in P&C insurance analytics who wants to apply their expertise in a fastgrowing specialty line.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analyze portfolio performance across premium, loss ratio, retention, rate need, and statelevel trends to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
  • Evaluate rate adequacy and pricing impacts in partnership with Actuarial, providing insights that inform pricing actions, underwriting strategies, and product changes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned pet insurance products, including rating structures, underwriting guidelines, coverage design, and regulatory considerations.
  • Develop and enhance reporting tools that support decisionmaking for Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, and MGA partners.
  • Construct and validate datasets from multiple sources (policy, claims, rating, underwriting) to ensure accuracy and integrity across analyses.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to address emerging business questions, portfolio shifts, or performance concerns.
  • Monitor key insurance KPIs such as frequency/severity trends, quotetobind, retention, and rate impact to support ongoing product management.
  • Collaborate with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Product to identify risk segmentation opportunities, refine rating factors, and mitigate portfolio risk.
  • Support regulatory and filing strategy by providing analytical insights that inform statelevel product decisions.
  • Consult on portfolio strategy using datadriven insights to guide product enhancements, pricing actions, and longterm growth initiatives.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in P&C insurance analytics, such as product performance, pricing, actuarial support, or underwriting analysis.
  • Strong ability to interpret insurance KPIs and financial metrics (loss ratio, rate need, retention, frequency/severity, premium trends).
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, or similar for data extraction and modeling.
  • Experience with visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Ability to communicate complex insurance concepts and analytical findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience working with actuarial, underwriting, or product teams in an insurance environment.
  • Knowledge of veterinary or animal health (dogs and cats) is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced, evolving environment.
