Job Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Investigator to join our centralized function within the Legal Department. The Senior Investigator will manage investigations end to end, including intake meetings, background research, computer forensics requests, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings with leadership. In addition to investigating internal employee concerns, The Senior Investigator will support leadership by identifying and guiding investigators in case direction and overseeing complex investigative files.
This role will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned Workplace Investigations cases, while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the investigation and resolution process. This role will also provide valuable input as we develop and enhance new processes and systems to efficiently address Workplace Investigations needs.
Workplace Investigations:
· Manage all stages of workplace investigations objectively, impartial and thoroughly in compliance with internal protocols, from initial intake and allegation framing to identifying witnesses, conducting interviews, and gathering evidence.
· Maintain strict fairness and confidentiality while delivering well-supported recommendations and findings based on facts, evidence and policies to the relevant stakeholders.
· Gather, evaluate, and safeguard various forms of evidence, including documentation, electronic communications, surveillance recordings, and forensic data. Apply critical analysis and objective judgment to review information, and deliver well-substantiated findings compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
· Interview complainants, respondents, witnesses and leaders while analyzing documentation, records and historical data to establish fact patterns and assess credibility.
· Draft objective, comprehensive, and clear investigative documentation, such as detailed summary reports outlining the specific allegations, scope of the inquiry, evidence analyzed, credibility assessments, relevant company policies, and ultimate findings. Collaborate with the legal department for review and ensure all records are accurately maintained within the designated case management systems.
· Coordinate closely with the HR Functional Partner team on key responsibilities including managing case consultations and driving risk informed strategies for all designated matters.
· Effectively manage and investigate multiple cases simultaneously while also maintaining requisite level of quality and time to close.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
· Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment.
· Align with Legal Partners for risk analysis of investigations.
· Communicate clear rationale/justification for investigation processes and outcomes to appropriate stakeholders.
· Provide status updates on complex ongoing investigations, as needed.
Process Optimization
· Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks to evaluate and optimize Workplace Investigations processes and workflows, ensuring client needs and service level expectations are met.
· Apply knowledge of policies, practices, laws and regulations to collaborate with internal business partners to help drive the investigation process.
· Participate in peer review, case consultation and ongoing professional development to strengthen investigative consistency and shared team expertise.
· Act as a designated technical resource and mentor for new or transitioning Investigators. Guide peers through complex allegation framing, interview planning and investigative reasoning.
Compliance & Policy Development
· Collaborate with HR and legal teams to develop and update Workplace Investigations policies and procedures.
· Maintain working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations and consult with Legal Partners on legal and compliance risk.
· Maintain complete, accurate and confidential case records that support reporting, trend analysis and program improvement.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially in high-stakes situations.
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex scenarios.
· Highly ethical and able to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
· Experience conducting a range of internal investigations including harassment, discrimination and retaliation cases.
· Knowledge of federal and state employment laws including Title VII, FMLA, and ADAAA.
· A commitment to teamwork, collaboration and professionalism.
· Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate.
Bachelor"s degree and/or equivalent experience required. Demonstrated prior work experience relevant to this position.
2-5 years of experience in workplace investigations, employee relations, HR, or a related role, with a strong focus on complex and sensitive issues
Competent skills in Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
In the performance of the duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel, or drive a motor vehicle.
