Job description

General Liability Defense Attorney | D&O & E&O Experience | Chicago, IL

When a corporate director gets sued for a decision they made in good faith, they need an attorney who understands the intersection of business judgment, insurance coverage and courtroom strategy. When a professional faces an errors and omissions claim that could end their career, they need someone who has been in that room before and knows how to win.

This role is for that attorney.

A Chicago litigation firm founded by attorneys from large law firms who wanted to deliver the same quality work in a leaner, more focused environment is looking for a General Liability Defense Attorney with D&O and E&O experience. This is a partial remote role with real courtroom work and a clear path to growth within a specialty lines practice.

What you get:

  • $115,000 to $160,000 a year
  • Partial remote work flexibility
  • Full benefits package
  • Career advancement in a stable and growing firm
  • A people first work environment with over a century of combined trial experience on the team
  • Opportunity to contribute to and grow within a specialty lines insurance defense practice

What you will be doing:

  • Defending clients in D&O, E&O and professional liability matters
  • Handling a diverse caseload of general liability insurance defense matters with emphasis on specialty lines
  • Managing cases from initial assignment through resolution including investigation, discovery, depositions, motions and trial
  • Analyzing liability, damages, coverage issues and litigation exposure
  • Drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, discovery and legal memoranda
  • Communicating regularly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, opposing counsel and experts
  • Managing case deadlines, budgets and a 1,950 annual billable hour requirement

What you need to bring:

  • Active Illinois Bar admission in good standing
  • Five or more years of insurance defense experience in Illinois
  • Strong background in general liability defense litigation
  • Experience independently managing litigation matters from assignment through resolution
  • D&O and E&O professional liability experience strongly preferred
  • Indiana Bar admission preferred
  • Existing book of business or demonstrated ability to develop business is a plus
  • Experience working directly with insurance carriers and sophisticated corporate clients preferred

This is a partial remote role based in Chicago, Illinois.
