Job description

As a Field Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of process control instrumentation at customer sites in Western Massachusetts and surrounding New England territories with minimal supervision.

Prime Responsibilities
  • Perform routine calibrations of process control instrumentation
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation to a variety of flow meters, transmitters, controllers and associated equipment to meet customers’ requirements
  • Visually inspects, tests, and recommends changes to ensure required installation meets manufacturer's standards for operation
  • Observes processes, apply, and develop tests and procedures to detect proper or malfunctioning operation of equipment
  • Determine possible system faults prior to departing for on-site service calls, in order to determine test equipment and spare parts that may be required
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades at the customer site
  • Provide accurate, professional, and timely documentation of service calls
  • Communicate effectively with customers, principals, co-workers, and management providing information regarding the nature of problems, course of action to be taken and schedule for completion of work
  • Provide support and training to peers to improve their abilities and increase their technical knowledge
Qualifications
  • Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent training and experience
  • 2-5 year's previous experience installing, maintaining, and repairing instrumentation
  • Technical aptitude
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Industrial safety training
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Able to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to train and mentor local instrumentation technicians
Travel

Travel is up to 75% of the time and primarily local during the business day, although extended travel is expected, which may require overnight stays and weekends. Ability to transport self to various facility sites as required.
