Job description

The Safety Manager is responsible for providing oversight of Equipment Redistribution & Divestiture (ERDS) operations across multiple Army Continuous Transformation (CT) locations, including Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, Fort Carson, and other designated sites. The position additionally supports various Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) locations during fly-away missions, ensuring consistent safety standards and operational compliance across all supported environments. As a Safety Manager, you will lead and drive operational improvements in occupational safety, reporting, analysis, and investigations. With a strong focus on OSHA standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management, you will foster a safety-focused culture that enhances organizational safety records. The Safety Manager will lead and manage the CT Site Safety Coordinators who will be focused on equipment turn-in, retrograde, and property disposal operations.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with Project Manager to monitor, evaluate, and ensure the effective implementation of project-specific safety programs, verifying compliance with OSHA standards, contractual requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to all Federal, State, Local, Installation, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough safety investigations and analyses, providing detailed reports and actionable recommendations.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential hazards and improve workplace safety.
  • Develop and maintain a Site-Specific Safety Plan and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) in accordance with OSHA standards and Army Regulations.
  • Support Government and company site specific job investigations.
  • Conduct safety inspections.
  • Develop metrics and collect data regarding safety operations.
  • Maintain the following programs: comprehensive Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, industrial hygiene, fire protection, pressure vessel and pressure system safety, electrical safety, and permitting (if required by contract).
  • Investigate accidents and report.
  • Optimize safety processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of safety by leading by example and encouraging proactive safety practices among employees.
  • Collaborate with multiple Safety Coordinators to integrate safety into all aspects of the organization's operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years technical experience directly related to safety management experience on government, military, or industrial logistics sites.
  • OSHA 10 and 30 certified (General Industry); CSP, ASP or SMP preferred.
  • Strong expertise in risk management, process optimization, and incident investigation.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, EM 385-1-1, DA PAM 385-10, and Army site safety practices.
  • Skilled in developing and implementing procedures, knowledge of Army safety systems and reporting (e.g., mishap reporting to the COR)
  • Experience supporting military, logistics, equipment turn-in, retrograde, or base closure operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive improvements in organizational safety records.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to foster a safety-focused culture.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about enhancing the safety and well-being of the workforce and the environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all company policies while working remotely.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage tasks and deadlines remotely
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Forklift and HAZMAT handling certifications preferred
  • Must have a real ID.
  • Must possess a valid passport or obtain one within 120 days of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Tier3/Secret clearance eligibility.
  • Basic proficiency in the English language (reading and writing).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Must be able to travel within the United States, up to 75%, as required.

Physical Demands & Working Environment:
  • The position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout industrial, warehouse, and field environments for extended periods.
  • The individual must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling 25-50 pounds as needed for inspections, equipment evaluations, and safety assessments.
  • Duties also require bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching access to various work areas.
  • This role may involve working in a range of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, noise, and outdoor settings during site visits.
  • The individual must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety boots, gloves, hard hats, eye protection, and hearing protection, and must maintain alertness and focus during safety sensitive tasks, site audits, and emergency response activities. For remote responsibilities, the position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while conducting virtual meetings, reporting, and documentation.
