AZURE CLOUD ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated Azure Cloud Engineer to help design, automate, and secure BeneLynk’s cloud infrastructure. This role will focus on building and maintaining scalable Azure environments while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulatory frameworks such as HITRUST and HIPAA.

The Azure Cloud Engineer will play a key role in automating infrastructure deployments, improving platform reliability, and implementing modern cloud architecture patterns. This role requires strong experience in Azure cloud services, automation through PowerShell scripting, and the implementation of security best practices across cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will continuously evaluate opportunities to improve performance, cost efficiency, and operational resilience across our cloud platforms. They will collaborate with infrastructure, security, development, and data teams to support cloud initiatives and drive automation across the environment.

This role will also leverage modern AI assisted engineering tools to enhance operational efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate troubleshooting and cloud optimization efforts. The Cloud Engineer will also provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical assistance, answering questions, and resolving cloud infrastructure related issues.

This is a highly hands on engineering role. Candidates should be comfortable designing cloud architectures, writing automation scripts, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues rather than relying solely on manual configuration through the Azure portal.

The Azure Cloud Engineer will report directly to the VP of IT Operations and will actively contribute to the automation and evolution of BeneLynk’s cloud platform, enabling secure, scalable, and highly automated infrastructure supporting mission critical applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, deploy, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure and services in a secure and scalable manner
  • Automate infrastructure deployment and operational processes using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Infrastructure as Code technologies
  • Develop and maintain production grade PowerShell automation used to deploy, configure, and manage Azure infrastructure and operational processes.
  • Design and implement secure Azure networking architectures including VNets, Private Endpoints, Azure Firewalls, Application Gateways, DNS zones, and network security controls.
  • Enforce Azure Security best practices aligned with HIPAA and HITRUST frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize cloud performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Analyze Azure usage patterns and recommend cost optimization strategies including right sizing, auto scaling, and architectural improvements.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and diagnostic telemetry.
  • Implement tagging, governance policies, and cost management strategies across Azure environments.
  • Collaborate with development, production support and data teams to support application deployments and platform integrations
  • Monitor cloud environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Microsoft Sentinel
  • Investigate and respond to alerts, operational incidents, and infrastructure issues
  • Maintain documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
  • Leverage AI powered engineering tools and copilots to accelerate scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and cloud optimization.
  • Utilize AI assisted scripting, automation, and infrastructure analysis tools to accelerate operational tasks and platform improvements.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for cloud infrastructure and services
  • Research and recommend new cloud technologies and best practices to improve operational efficiency
  • Ensuring that all Azure Cloud and Office 365 configuration policies and conditional access policies are being enforced properly.
  • Build monitoring dashboards and alerts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in designing and implementing secure Azure architectures using private networking and private endpoints. Ensures that security controls which safeguard access to IT resources are in place and performing as expected
  • Performs health and performance assessments of internal processes and systems; recommends mitigating actions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year College or university in Information technology, or other related field; or Minimum or four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience: Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform including:

  • Azure compute services (Virtual Machines, App Services, Containers)
  • Azure networking (VNets, Private Endpoints, Application Gateways, Firewalls)
  • Azure data services (SQL, Storage Accounts, Data Factory)
  • Azure identity and access management (MicrosoftEntraID / Azure AD, RBAC)
  • Azure monitoring and observability (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights)
  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel

Additional preferred experience:

  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Azure CLI scripting
  • Demonstrated experience building PowerShell scripts used in production environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM Templates)
  • Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA / HITRUST preferred)
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Work Style: Ability to work well both independently and with others. Ability to independently research and implement new cloud technologies and automation techniques. Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills required. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Strong critical thinking skills.
