Job Title: Designer | Natural Gas Pipelines
Location: Remote
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $35.00–$40.00/hour

Work Schedule: Remote | Full-Time

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Designer to support natural gas pipeline projects across both Distribution and Transmission applications. This role will produce accurate, high-quality design drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and related design software. The ideal candidate has natural gas industry design experience, strong CAD skills, and the ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Must-Have Skills:
  • Natural Gas Design: Prior design experience within the natural gas industry, including distribution and/or transmission projects.
  • AutoCAD: Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD tools, standards, and workflows.
  • Smart Plant 3D / CADWorx: Hands-on experience with Smart Plant 3D and CADWorx required.
  • Pipeline Design: Working knowledge of pipeline stationing, plan/profile development, cross-sections, and pipeline layouts.
  • Remote Work: Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively in a fully remote environment.
Job Duties:
  • Produce high-quality design drawings and documentation for natural gas pipeline projects.
  • Complete small-diameter pipeline designs with minimal oversight.
  • Interpret land, environmental, survey, locate, geotechnical, and site plan data for design development.
  • Clean up and integrate survey and third-party CAD files.
  • Develop preliminary alignments, plan and profile views, cross-sections, elevations, and construction documentation.
  • Create and manage drawing sheet sets using Sheet Set Manager.
  • Apply pipeline stationing and adjust gas main locations based on available data.
  • Develop detailed pipeline and facility layouts for Distribution and Transmission projects.
  • Interpret permit requirements and conduct design reviews for accuracy and compliance.
  • Organize and manage existing and proposed XREF drawings.
  • Develop Public Improvement Plan sets from baseline through final design.
  • Apply knowledge of tie-in fittings, installation methods, and industrial meter set design principles.
  • Communicate with project teams and stakeholders and incorporate feedback into designs.
  • Train and mentor less experienced designers as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Drafting certification, degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior natural gas industry design experience required.
  • Advanced AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Experience with Smart Plant 3D and CADWorx.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to complete assignments on time and within established project requirements.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.
  • Ability to recognize safety concerns and follow applicable safety requirements.
