Nemours Virtual Care is a centralized, enterprise-wide model that delivers technology-enabled clinical services to support patient safety, care coordination, access, capacity optimization and acute care delivery across the health system.
About the Job
The Chief of Virtual Care is a senior physician leader responsible for the clinical leadership, governance and strategic oversight of Nemours' virtual care portfolio. This role provides oversight for Advanced Care at Home, nurse triage, transfer center operations, inpatient monitoring, and the Jacksonville Operations Center, ensuring safe, high-quality, efficient and coordinated care delivery across the enterprise.
The Chief of Virtual Care works in close partnership with the AVP of Virtual Care to develop strategic goals, implement enterprise initiatives, and continuously improve virtual care operations and outcomes. This leader collaborates closely with physician, nursing, operational and executive partners to design, implement, scale and optimize innovative care models that advance Nemours' virtual care strategy.
What You're Responsible For
Clinical Leadership & Governance
  • Provide executive medical leadership and clinical oversight for Nemours' virtual care portfolio, including Advanced Care at Home, nurse triage, transfer center operations, inpatient monitoring, remote patient monitoring and the Jacksonville Operations Center.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide clinical standards, governance structures, care models, and best practices for virtual care delivery.
  • Ensure alignment of clinical standards, workflows, quality expectations, and medical staff practices across all virtual care service lines.
  • Serve as the senior physician champion and ambassador for virtual care across the Nemours health system.

Partnership & Operational Integration
  • Work in dyad partnership with the AVP of Virtual Care to set strategic direction, drive implementation, and achieve enterprise performance, growth, and quality goals.
  • Collaborate on workforce models, staffing strategies, provider coverage, and operational design to support scalable virtual care services across the enterprise.
  • Lead the integration of virtual care workflows across inpatient, ambulatory, home-based, and centralized operations settings.
  • Ensure strong relationships and trust with referring physicians, hospital leaders, and clinical stakeholders.

Direct Clinical Care (as applicable)
  • Provide direct virtual patient care as needed, including admissions, consults, virtual rounding, discharges, and on-call support.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to virtual clinicians for complex decision-making and real-time escalation.
  • Model best practices in virtual care delivery and documentation.

Program Development, Growth & Innovation
  • Lead the development, launch, and scaling of new virtual care programs, capabilities, and service lines that support Nemours' strategic priorities.
  • Partner with executive and operational leaders to develop strategic goals and implement initiatives that expand the reach, impact, and value of virtual care.
  • Serve as a clinical advisor for innovation initiatives, emerging technologies, and new models of care.
  • Be available to support research, external partnerships, and payor conversations related to virtual care and care-at-home models.

Quality, Safety & Performance
  • Ensure achievement of key clinical quality, safety, patient experience, access, and operational performance metrics across all virtual care programs.
  • Lead or participate in clinical review processes, including safety event reviews, M&M conferences, and care escalation reviews.
  • Oversee provider clinical performance standards and competency expectations for virtual physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety, and high reliability.

Compliance, Documentation & Technology Enablement
  • Ensure virtual care services meet all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with operational and informatics leaders to optimize use of Epic EMR, telehealth platforms, remote monitoring, and clinical communication tools.
  • Support standardized documentation, billing, and clinical workflows across virtual units.

What You'll Need
Qualifications
  • Clinical Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
    • Clinical experience in managing children with medical complexity

Background
  • Clinical leadership experience with demonstrated success in executive physician leadership, medical direction, practice oversight, and implementation of innovative care delivery models within a complex health system.
    • 4+ years of progressive leadership experience.
      • Direct clinical experience managing acutely ill patients with experience in providing comprehensive hospital-based care, home and community care, and familiarity with Mobile Integrated Health (MIH)/Community Paramedicine.
        • Prior leadership experience in virtual care, care-at-home, transfer center operations, centralized clinical operations, physician practice, or remote/inpatient monitoring strongly preferred.
        • Experience supporting or leading clinical change, innovation, or new program implementation.
        • Clinical credentials with active medical license.
