Position Information

Position Title Licensed Practical Nurse -- 10 Months Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services to a diverse student population within a liberal arts college environment. This role provides direct clinical care, assists with health education initiatives, and promotes student wellness to support academic success and overall well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and clinical support within scope of practice, including obtaining vital signs, performing routine procedures, and assisting with exams and treatments.
  • Carry out provider-ordered interventions, including medication administration and basic treatments, in accordance with established protocols.
  • Support patient intake and triage by gathering clinical information and communicating findings to the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse for assessment and prioritization.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, referrals, and follow-up care, including outreach related to lab results and ongoing treatment needs.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures and ensure accurate documentation and filing of medical records.
  • Monitor patient status in clinic and observation settings, reporting changes in condition to the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Provide patient education and reinforce care instructions as directed by the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain clinic operations, including inventory management, supply restocking, and adherence to infection control and safety standards.
  • Support administrative and reporting requirements, including maintaining logs, statistics, and required documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate Program and be currently licensed in the State of Georgia,.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., primary care, outpatient, urgent care, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in an outpatient, ambulatory care, or college health setting.
  • Experience with immunization administration and health compliance (e.g., student entry requirements).

Certifications, Licenses, Restrictions
  • Must be a currently Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Georgia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Physical Demands
This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring extended periods of sitting and frequent use of hands for computer and office-related tasks. The employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be required. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
