Job description

Outreach Specialist, Equity & Community Impact

100% Remote within California, Must reside in California

We are seeking a limited-term Outreach Specialist to join FoundationCCC in its mission of benefiting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges-the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. Together, we are building stronger communities by getting students and colleges the resources they need to succeed and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. Join us as we continue this important work to uphold the value of community colleges in building a brighter future.

What You'll Do

The Equity and Community Impact division at the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC) works to strengthen student support systems, advance equity-centered programming, and build partnerships that expand access and opportunity across the California Community Colleges.

  • Brings an authentic student perspective to FoundationCCC's work, elevating student voices and increasing awareness of programs and services across diverse community college populations.

  • Expands FoundationCCC's visibility and partnerships by identifying and cultivating key stakeholders, strengthening student engagement, and recommending strategic outreach and partnership opportunities.

  • Advances equity and organizational priorities by collaborating across teams, analyzing engagement trends and emerging needs, and providing student-informed recommendations to strengthen impact.

Attributes for Success

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in student engagement, outreach, or a related field within higher education, nonprofit, or public sector settings.

  • Direct experience as a student within the California Community College system strongly preferred.

  • A self-starter and quick learner with a bias for action who is highly motivated and outcome-oriented, always seeking innovative approaches to project execution.

  • Practices ownership, takes accountability, and has the ability to independently project manage, prioritize tasks, and deliver quality products on time with limited supervision.

  • We're recruiting for mission-driven, passionate, equity-minded individuals with a strong desire to impact and change people's lives for the better

  • Our work holds great weight and responsibility, and the opportunity to impact the lives of millions of individuals in California

  • Innovation, creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship are encouraged as employees work to achieve organizational goals

  • FoundationCCC blends the impact of a non-profit, the culture of an entrepreneurial start-up, and the scale of a state agency

  • Team members are hired for their expertise in niche areas across our areas of impact and higher education overall, and for their knowledge of business, philanthropy, technology, communications, and more

What we Offer

FoundationCCC is fully committed to a "remote-first" philosophy, and recruits and hires talent across the state in fully remote positions, where virtual work is possible. Our headquarters are located in Downtown Sacramento, just blocks from California's State Capitol.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, generous PTO, and paid holidays

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and Wellness offerings

  • CalPERS retirement program and optional 403(b) and 457 Retirement plans

  • Carrot reproductive health and fertility support

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness certified employer
