Job description

ShearWorx has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator. This position requires 100% travel. While you may be assigned to a single location for an extended period, relocation between job sites is frequent and based on business needs. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for running a 250 or 350 sized excavator with shear attachment. Employee will be preparing (cutting up) scrap metal at off-site locations to a size that is acceptable to the steel mill of the customer’s choice. The primary material to be prepared will be steel rail cars but will also include aluminum rail cars and miscellaneous “yard-scrap”. NOTE: do not apply to this position if you are not willing to travel weeks at a time.
DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must Have:
  • Experience running an excavator with second member Shear attachment (this is a must have)
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively-Company reimbursed fuel, hotel, and meals via per diem
  • Understands the limits amp; safe operation of a Shear
  • Working knowledge of the metal preparation process
  • Provide personal transportation to multiple sites
  • Must have a cell phone and willing to use for company communication
Nice-to-Have:
  • 5+ years’ experience working with Rail Cars
  • Possess leadership skills (2-4 people)
  • The ability to operate related equipment (Material Handler, Forklift, Excavator w/ Thumb, amp; etc…)
  • Mechanically inclined w/ ability to diagnose minor mechanical issues
  • Ability amp; Knowledge to change more mechanical repair components
  • Working understanding of Hydraulic systems on equipment
