Job description

Company Overview

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup founded by two former Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are developing an autonomous gun turret using advanced computer vision and control systems to precisely detect, track, and neutralize enemy drones.

With an engineering-first culture, ACS values technical excellence and innovation. Backed by our founders’ successful exits from two previous ventures acquired for a combined $180M in 2022, we are committed to ensuring that the groundbreaking technologies we develop will have a real-world impact.

About The Role

We are looking for an HR Business Partner I - Manufacturing Operations to serve as the dedicated HR partner for manufacturing operations. You will provide embedded HR advisory, employee relations support, and operational HR delivery to manufacturing leadership and teams. This is a hands-on operational role focused on solving manufacturing-specific HR challenges day-to-day, not a systems builder role. You will own employee relations, hiring coordination, workforce planning, onboarding, compliance, and compensation support for the manufacturing function.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide daily HR advisory to manufacturing leadership on hiring, staffing, employee performance, and retention; coordinate manufacturing hiring from requisition sourcing through offer support; manage workforce planning and headcount forecasting aligned to operational demand.

  • Handle employee concerns, complaints, and grievances; advise leadership on performance management, progressive discipline, and terminations; drive retention through stay interviews, engagement conversations, and conflict mediation.

  • Lead onboarding for manufacturing new hires including facility tours, safety orientation, and role-specific training coordination; partner with safety and compliance teams on OSHA requirements, incident documentation, and wage/hour compliance for manufacturing roles.

  • Answer employee questions on compensation, benefits, and payroll; support pay equity and internal alignment analysis for manufacturing roles.

What You’ll Need

  • 5–8+ years of HR experience with a strong employee relations and operational HR background.

  • Proven experience providing HR support in a manufacturing, operations, or plant environment.

  • Strong employee relations skills: conflict resolution, difficult conversations, and performance management.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing compliance requirements including OSHA, wage/hour, and safety; comfort with ambiguity and ability to solve operational HR problems independently.

You’ll Stand Out

  • Background in a high-volume operational manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in a hardware or advanced manufacturing company.

  • Experience supporting shift-based or 24/7 operations environments.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary

  • ACS Equity Package

  • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance

  • Paid Time Off
