Remote hotel managers often face challenges in maintaining effective communication with on-site staff and ensuring service quality without being physically present. They use digital tools and communication platforms to manage reservations, guest relations, housekeeping, and administrative tasks from a remote location. This role is ideal for hotels that use smart technology or have multiple properties, as it allows efficient management and oversight from anywhere in the world. Remote Hotel Managers must have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.

Job description

We are seeking a strategic, people-first Regional Vice President of Operations to lead and elevate our growing portfolio of hotels on the West Coast. This is a high-impact leadership role for an operator who thrives at the intersection of financial performance, culture-building, and guest experience — someone who leads through influence, earns trust quickly, and knows how to make teams and properties better.

This is a full-time, exempt, remote position that reports to the EVP | Operations. This role supports properties on the West Coast and requires regular travel, so candidates must be located in the Pacific or Mountain time zone to allow for timely and cost-effective travel. The salary range for this position is $160,000-$190,000.

 Who We Are

Modus is the Lifestyle + Luxury division of PM Hotel Group with a portfolio of distinctive, full-service properties across the country. We are passionate about hospitality, driven by culture, and committed to the development of our people and the communities we serve. Our properties are not cookie-cutter — they each have a personality, a purpose, and a team that takes pride in what they do.

  • Passionate – about hospitality and fostering an environment where associates will thrive.
  • Culture driven – dedicated to respect, teamwork, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the drive to succeed.
  • Unique – we encourage our associates to express themselves and their individual talents. We celebrate diversity and are committed to equity and inclusion.
  • Innovators – we are a lifestyle hotel management company that is constantly evolving. We are open-minded individuals who embrace change.
  • A growing team looking to expand with authentic and genuine individuals who recognize the importance of team engagement.
  • A company that has a culture of promoting from within.
  • Recognized as a Top Workplace in The Washington Post and Philadelphia Inquirer.

 What You’ll Do

As Regional Vice President of Operations, you serve as the senior leader for a portfolio of West Coast hotels. You are accountable for the overall performance of each property while setting the strategic and cultural direction for your region. You lead through General Managers, building their capability and holding them to high standards — always modeling the leadership behaviors we expect at every level.

Portfolio Leadership & Performance

  • Provide strategic oversight and operational accountability across a multi-property West Coast portfolio, driving balanced results across financial performance, guest experience, and colleague engagement.
  • Partner with General Managers to develop and execute annual strategic plans, budgets, and operating plans that reflect both property-level realities and company-wide priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze portfolio performance across key metrics — revenue, GOP, STR, guest satisfaction, and colleague engagement — and take decisive action when results require it.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for property-level issues requiring regional-level judgment, resources, or visibility.

 Leadership Development & Culture

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing General Managers and senior property leaders, building a pipeline of talent across the portfolio.
  • Conduct regular property visits and leadership touchpoints to coach, assess, and inspire teams — maintaining a visible, hands-on presence across the region.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning by modeling Modus values and creating space for leaders to grow.
  • Champion our Culture + Core Values at every level

 Guest + Brand Experience

  • Set and uphold the standard for exceptional guest experiences across all properties, ensuring each hotel reflects the Modus Ethos and the unique character of its location and brand.
  • Leverage guest feedback, survey data, and operational insight to drive continuous improvement in satisfaction and quality.
  • Serve as a regional ambassador for Modus by PM Hotel Group — building relationships with ownership groups, brand representatives, and community partners.

 Strategy + Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with shared services partners — including Revenue Management, Marketing, People & Culture, Finance, Sales, and Accounting — to align regional execution with company strategy.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive insight to inform positioning, pricing, and capital investment decisions across the portfolio.
  • Partner with ownership stakeholders as appropriate, representing Modus with professionalism, transparency, and a solutions orientation.
  • Lead through change with clarity and composure, translating company direction into property-level action.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive hospitality leadership experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a multi-property or regional operations role.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing full-service hotels with diverse revenue streams, including rooms, food & beverage, and events.
  • Experience with lifestyle, independent, or mission-driven hospitality brands is highly desirable.
  • Deep familiarity with West Coast markets — established relationships and understanding of regional competitive dynamics is a meaningful advantage.
  • A track record of developing General Managers and senior leaders who go on to do great things.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to read, interpret, and act on P&L statements, forecasts, and STR data across a multi-property portfolio.
  • An operator's mindset combined with a strategist's perspective — you know how hotels run, and you know how to make them run better.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with ownership groups, brand partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • A natural communicator and cultural connector — you lead with empathy, speak candidly, and inspire people to bring their best.
  • Willingness and ability to travel significantly across the West Coast portfolio.

 What’s In It for You

  • Competitive salary and bonus plan.
  • Generous health, dental and vision insurance, plus 401K.
  • Comprehensive onboarding and training plan to set you up for success.
  • Coaching, feedback, and mentorship to develop your individual role and career goals.
  • Leadership courses to improve your personal and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Generous PTO package and 9 paid holidays.
  • Opportunities to volunteer and give back to our local communities.
  • Paid Parental Leave.
  • Tuition reimbursement opportunities – when you grow, we grow!

Non-Negotiables (Our Core Values)

  • SERVE OTHERS.
  • LIVE 360.
  • BUILD A POSITIVE TEAM.
  • COMMUNICATE
  • BE WILDLY PASSIONATE.
  • TAKE OWNERSHIP.
  • LEARN + INNOVATE.
  • EMBRACE CHANGE

As part of an organizational culture that embraces change and progress, this job description does not seek to limit the tasks and responsibilities of the position. Rather, it acts as a springboard for future career and personal development within the property team and entire PM Hotel Group community.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We actively respect the right of any qualified individual who performs to the PM Hotel Group standards to work.
