What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist, you need expertise in parallel computing, cluster management, and strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, or Fortran, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with HPC job schedulers (like SLURM or PBS), cloud platforms, and Linux-based systems, as well as relevant certifications, is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the capacity to work independently are crucial soft skills in remote environments. These competencies ensure efficient deployment, management, and troubleshooting of complex HPC resources while supporting diverse user needs from a distance.

What is Remote High Performance Computing?

Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) refers to the use of powerful computing resources and clusters that are accessed over the internet or a network, rather than being located locally. This setup allows researchers, engineers, and organizations to perform complex computations, simulations, and data analysis from anywhere, without the need for on-site supercomputers. Remote HPC enables scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness by allowing users to leverage shared resources, often provided by cloud service providers or specialized data centers.

How does a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) professional typically collaborate with research teams and IT staff?

Remote HPC professionals often work closely with research scientists, data analysts, and IT administrators to ensure computational resources are efficiently allocated and optimized for large-scale projects. Collaboration usually happens through virtual meetings, ticketing systems, and shared documentation platforms, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. Daily tasks may involve troubleshooting user issues, managing job scheduling, and maintaining cluster performance, all while coordinating with geographically dispersed teams. This dynamic environment fosters continuous learning and exposure to cutting-edge scientific and technical applications.

Job Description

Theย Performance Marketing Designer is a high-impact direct response design position on the Creative Team at Achieve, a leading financial services company. It offers a talented digital designer the opportunity to directly drive business growth and expand our teamโ€™s capabilities with innovative, highly engaging ads, emails and other digital creative. To succeed in this role, you need to be experienced in designing to stop the scroll and passionate about using your creative skills to connect with the end user and compel them to take action. You embrace a broad range of design aesthetics and love to innovate, yet your design choices are informed by data and you know how to design within brand guidelines.ย ย

Qualifications

What youโ€™ll do:

Creative Production:

  • Leverage AI content and collaborate with human writers to concept and design high-quality, engaging creative that test hypotheses, drive business results, and provide insights about our audiences.
  • Utilize skills in video production, editing, and motion graphics to create compelling, eye-catching visual communications that resonate with our target audience for a range of channels including email, Meta, Tiktok, display, native and more.
  • Support Brand design needs as business priorities require.

Collaboration:

  • Lean into discussions with stakeholders to understand business goals and challenges, identify creative testing opportunities, and drive creative testing that helps reach channel goals.
  • Actively participate in group discussions and brainstorming sessions; be fully engaged, provide value, and stay solutions-oriented.
  • Build strong relationships with fellow members of the Creative Team; share your ideas generously, support fellow team members as necessary, and celebrate their victories.

Project Management:

  • Work onย  multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality assets within deadlines.
  • Adhere to all production processes, and help determine ways to improve current processes and/or create new ones.ย
  • Embrace AI tools with proactive curiosity, exploring and finding time-saving solutions that you can share with the team.
  • Take ownership in all your projects; be proactive in finding solutions to keep moving them forwardย
  • Ensure all projects are on brand and compliant to regulatory and legal requirements.

Advertising Strategy & Innovation:

  • Immerse yourself in each advertising channel to understand the targeting, user mindset, competitive landscape, and best practices. Harness these insights to craft powerful, channel-specific creative that resonates with users and drives results.
  • Lead the charge in digital design innovation by staying ahead of current trends, pinpointing test-worthy opportunities, and spearheading discussions to cultivate creative hypotheses for rigorous testing.

What youโ€™ll bring:

  • 2+ years of experience designing direct response creative; emails, digital ads, landing pages, and other digital acquisition user experiences.
  • An online portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of creative, ideally including email and brand design as well as other direct response examples.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite & Google Suite.
  • Experience using AI tools to increase efficiency and output volume.ย
  • Eager to learn on the job and proactively gain insights to inform design decisions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to produce high volumes of work efficiently in a remote team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: especially the ability to articulate your creative choices to a non-creative audience.
  • Familiarity with online marketing performance KPI and metrics and how to understand them.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on a performance creative team in a highly iterative testing culture
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry
  • Experience designing direct response emails, troubleshooting rendering issues and working directly with developers to implement
  • Working knowledge of Figma, CSS & HTML
  • Experience creating ads for Meta, TikTok, and other social media platforms
  • Experience in and desire to grow skillsย  in video production, editing, motion graphics, in programs such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects
  • Friendly and team-oriented, you take the work seriously (but not yourself!)
