What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) Specialist, you need expertise in parallel computing, cluster management, and strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, or Fortran, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with HPC job schedulers (like SLURM or PBS), cloud platforms, and Linux-based systems, as well as relevant certifications, is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the capacity to work independently are crucial soft skills in remote environments. These competencies ensure efficient deployment, management, and troubleshooting of complex HPC resources while supporting diverse user needs from a distance.

What is Remote High Performance Computing?

Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) refers to the use of powerful computing resources and clusters that are accessed over the internet or a network, rather than being located locally. This setup allows researchers, engineers, and organizations to perform complex computations, simulations, and data analysis from anywhere, without the need for on-site supercomputers. Remote HPC enables scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness by allowing users to leverage shared resources, often provided by cloud service providers or specialized data centers.

How does a Remote High Performance Computing (HPC) professional typically collaborate with research teams and IT staff?

Remote HPC professionals often work closely with research scientists, data analysts, and IT administrators to ensure computational resources are efficiently allocated and optimized for large-scale projects. Collaboration usually happens through virtual meetings, ticketing systems, and shared documentation platforms, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. Daily tasks may involve troubleshooting user issues, managing job scheduling, and maintaining cluster performance, all while coordinating with geographically dispersed teams. This dynamic environment fosters continuous learning and exposure to cutting-edge scientific and technical applications.

Overview

Our client is seeking a senior sales executive to lead and scale its Americas business within the embedded systems market. This individual will oversee a team of approximately 20 sales and technical professionals while owning the commercial strategy, P&L, and growth objectives for the region.

The organization has an established customer base, healthy pipeline, and strong technical resources already in place. The focus of this role is driving execution, developing the team, strengthening strategic customer relationships, and accelerating revenue growth.

The ideal candidate combines executive-level sales leadership with a strong understanding of embedded hardware and software solutions. They do not need to be an engineer, but they must be capable of speaking credibly with technical teams, customers, and channel partners.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the Americas business with full responsibility for revenue growth, profitability, and strategic execution.
  • Own regional P&L performance and annual forecasting.
  • Develop and execute a growth strategy designed to significantly expand the business over the next several years.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a geographically distributed team of approximately 20 sales and technical professionals.
  • Serve as the executive face of the business to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive strategic customer engagement, executive-level relationship management, and contract negotiations.
  • Partner closely with channel sales organizations to increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of embedded solutions.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews, pipeline reviews, and opportunity planning sessions.
  • Collaborate with global leadership to align Americas growth initiatives with overall company strategy.
  • Travel extensively throughout North America to support customers, partners, and internal teams.

What We're Looking For

  • 12+ years of sales, business development, or commercial leadership experience.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing sales organizations.
  • Experience selling embedded systems, embedded computing, industrial hardware, IoT solutions, edge computing platforms, or similar technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of complex solution sales involving both hardware and software components.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or influencing P&L performance.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple regions.
  • Executive presence with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop growth strategies and scale revenue within a technical product environment.
