Job description

Remote position with the ability to travel to our NJ and NY locations up to 25% of the time.

Position Summary:

Guidewire Senior Developer with 10 years of experience leading the planning, design, development, modification, debugging, and evaluation of complex software for technical and integration areas of the Guidewire Claims Center.  The Guidewire Senior Developer mentors junior developers, providing technical leadership, and owning the Guidewire ClaimCenter platform and integrations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development and unit testing of solutions using Guidewire application tools for Cloud implementation.
• Provide technical leadership for Guidewire ClaimCenter Configuration and/or Integration development teams.
• Manage scope, estimate work, build plans and schedules, track and deliver to plan.
• Mentor and guide junior Guidewire developers on best practices and technical standards.
• Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues and troubleshooting.
• Clearly communicate and work with onsite/offshore teams and vendors as required to deliver effectively and plan for the implementation of user stories.
• Propose integration solutions and estimate integration effort required for user story requirements.
• Lead interactions with other internal teams (including GNY business, GNY IT, vendor, onshore and offshore) to complete project activities.
• Architect and develop integration solutions including Batch Processes, Message Queues and Event Messaging.
• Establish and execute traceable unit and integration tests (automated as to be agreed).
• Execute the development & ensure successful completion of assigned user stories for each sprint.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards and department policies.
• Experience in Guidewire Ski upgrades.
• Ensure that proper branching methodologies are implemented for flexibility and agility with delivery supporting multiple development tracks.
• Lead collaboration with Business, Product, Operations and Testing teams in testing Claims applications to meet business and IT defined quality metrics, and functional and non-functional KPIs.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 10 years in IT field with 7 years within Guidewire Claims Center in Integration / Configuration Development roles required.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance domain required.
• Minimum 2 years of expertise in Guidewire APIs, Integration views and Product Models required.
• Minimum 1 year experience with Guidewire Cloud Platform.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with tools like Jira, Git, Bitbucket etc. required.
• Knowledge of Guidewire integration concept: Restful, Batch Processing, Message Queues and Event Processing required.
• Experience with DevSecOps and establishing and managing CI/CD pipelines for Claims build / deployments.
• 2+ years of experience mentoring or leading development teams preferred.
• Guidewire Claims Center Certification is highly preferred.

Skills:

• Strong Claim Center Configuration / Integration skills (v10.0 or above)
• Guidewire Claims Center Cloud experience is required.
• Expert-level technical/functional expertise in GOSU, PCF, XML, Product Model, Activity Assignments.
• Deep understanding of the Guidewire platform (UI, Data Model, Studio etc.)
• Expert technical background in Core Java, XML, SQL
• Strong knowledge of one or more RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server)
• Expertise in modern software architecture, design patterns, and development techniques.
• Application of structured software development techniques including requirements analysis, functional decomposition, modeling, prototyping, functional design, estimating and testing.
• Ability to lead tasks through to completion and guide junior team members.
• Expertise in Software Configuration Management tools like GitHub, Bitbucket.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies like agile.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Proven experience defining technology roadmaps and establishing execution plans for Claims platforms, integrations, and services.
• Knowledge of secure software development.
• Familiar with Policy Center, Billing Center, Contact Manager.
• Guidewire Certification is required.
• Working knowledge in at least one JEE framework preferred.
• Cloud Data Access integration experience required.

The salary range for this role is $97,300 - $182,500. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs.  Base pay is just one component of GNY’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
