Are you a Licensed Professional Engineer looking to apply your roadway and traffic expertise to high-stakes forensic analysis?

We are a fast-growing, collaborative consultancy seeking a self-motivated Traffic Engineer (PE) to join our Vehicle Accident Reconstruction practice. In this role, you will analyze physical roadway defects, drainage issues, traffic control setups, and geometric designs to determine contributing factors in complex crashes and litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forensic Analysis: Perform engineering evaluations of roadway defects, maintenance issues, and design factors that may have contributed to vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian incidents.

  • Document Review: Analyze roadway plans, specifications, daily work reports, and contract documents associated with active litigation matters.

  • Field Investigations: Travel to incident locations to conduct field surveys, inspect physical evidence, and capture photographic documentation.

  • Technical Reporting: Deliver clear, actionable findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and through detailed written reports.

  • Client Engagement: Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients and project teams regarding project status, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Expert Development: Actively build expertise toward becoming a testifying Expert Witness and expanding your capabilities in crash reconstruction.

  • Professional Growth: Maintain industry expertise through ongoing training, certifications, and active involvement in professional organizations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following core credentials and experience:

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • 2 to 5+ Years of Experience in Roadway Design, Construction, or Traffic Signals

  • Advanced Training in Maintenance of Traffic (MOT / Temporary Traffic Control)

  • Proven Expertise with MUTCD Standards and AASHTO Geometric Design Guidelines

  • Deep Understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Policies and Practices

Preferred Technical Strengths and Attributes

  • Specialized Expertise: Strong experience with drainage installation and modeling (hydrology/hydraulics), asphalt paving, ponding water analysis, shoulder edge drop-offs, and intersection sight distances.

  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; public speaking or expert presentation experience is a strong plus.

  • Adaptability and Drive: Mathematically and technologically inclined, with a strong commitment to exceeding performance metrics and learning crash reconstruction methodologies.

  • Licensure Flexibility: Willingness and capability to obtain additional state PE licensures and professional certifications as needed.

Travel and Remote Work Capabilities

  • Remote Setup: Ability to work effectively from a remote home office with reliable high-speed internet and cellular connectivity.

  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel to job sites and field investigation locations as required (must have reliable transportation).
