Job description

Headquartered in San Diego, California, Inseego Corp. (Nasdaq: INSG) is an industry pioneer in intelligent device-to-cloud solutions that extend the network edge, enabling wireless coverage, multi-gigabit data speeds, low latency, and security to deliver highly reliable internet access. Our innovative mobile and fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions incorporate the most advanced technologies (including 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, SD-WAN, SASE, and others) into a wide range of products that provide robust connectivity indoors, outdoors, and in the harshest industrial environments. Inseego products and SaaS solutions are designed and developed in the USA.
Position Overview:
We are entering an exciting new chapter. With new leadership stepping in to run the company's most profitable and strategically critical product, Subscribe, we've reorganized our Engineering organization to focus on modernizing and scaling our SaaS platform into a robust, multi-tenant, cloud-native architecture.
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead this effort. The role is ideal for a strong people leader and execution partner who can lead and grow high-performing engineering teams, bring operational rigor, and translate product and business priorities into predictable delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accountability, and knows how to scale teams and systems without losing velocity. This is a remote role requiring US Citizenship.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and scale engineering teams responsible for building, operating, and evolving mission-critical, revenue-driving SaaS platform capabilities.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Engineering, Product leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering execution with business goals and strategic priorities.
  • Own delivery, quality, reliability, and engineering velocity, ensuring teams consistently ship high-impact, customer-focused solutions.
  • Drive organizational clarity including team structure, ownership boundaries, execution models, and career growth paths.
  • Establish and refine engineering best practices across architecture, development, testing, deployment, observability, and on-call operations.
  • Balance short-term execution with long-term technical strategy, including platform scalability, technical debt reduction, and modernization initiatives.
  • Coach, mentor, and retain Team Leads and Senior Engineers, fostering a high-performance and growth-oriented engineering culture.
  • Serve as a key voice in planning, prioritization, and technical trade-off discussions, using data and engineering judgment to guide decision-making.
  • Own engineering KPIs including delivery predictability, reliability, quality, cloud efficiency, engineering velocity, and customer-impact metrics.
  • Partner with Security, Compliance, and Platform teams to ensure engineering practices meet enterprise security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, delivery frameworks, and operational practices.

What Success Looks Like
  • Engineering teams are aligned, motivated, and executing with predictable and sustainable delivery performance.
  • Product commitments are consistently met with high quality, strong reliability, and reduced delivery risk.
  • Clear ownership exists across systems, services, teams, and platform initiatives.
  • Engineering is recognized as a trusted, proactive partner to Product, Security, and business stakeholders.
  • Platform architecture and engineering processes support scalable growth without slowing delivery velocity.
  • Engineering leaders and teams demonstrate strong engagement, retention, and professional growth.

Required Qualifications:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience and a minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience, including 5 years leading managers and multi-team engineering organizations.
  • Proven experience leading SaaS platform modernization initiatives, ideally including:
    • Multi-tenant platform architectures
    • Cloud-native systems operating in AWS or comparable public cloud environments
    • Scaling production platforms supporting enterprise customers
  • Experience working within enterprise security and regulatory compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, CMMC, or comparable standards.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise SaaS operational requirements including availability, security, compliance, performance, and observability.
  • Experience navigating technical and business trade-offs between modern architecture initiatives and existing revenue-generating systems.
  • Pragmatic technical depth with the ability to challenge design decisions, guide architecture discussions, and mentor senior technical leaders.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing engineering teams and leadership pipelines.
  • Comfortable operating within hands-on, low-ego, high-ownership cultures typical of growth-stage SaaS organizations.
  • Excellent communication and executive partnership skills with the ability to connect engineering strategy, execution, and business outcomes.
  • Exposure to AI tools, platforms, and engineering productivity capabilities, with experience partnering across teams to deliver AI-enabled SaaS features or development workflows.
