Job description

Senior Data Center Program Manager 

Position Summary 

The Senior Data Center Program Manager leads delivery of mission-critical data center projects from planning through commissioning and turnover, while also driving growth of the Data Center Lifecycle Services Practice. This role combines hands-on project management with business development, process improvement, and technical subject matter expertise across MEP systems, commissioning, and multi-site program delivery. The ideal candidate brings 20+ years of relevant experience managing complex, interdisciplinary data center programs for enterprise and hyperscale clients, and is equally comfortable in the field, in front of clients, and building the systems that let the practice scale. 

Key Responsibilities 

Project Management & Delivery 

  • Manage data center commissioning projects across all phases: planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover 

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architecture, engineering, controls, MSI, and commissioning agents 

  • Oversee schedule, budget, quality, and risk across single- and multi-site programs 

  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships, including procurement of long-lead critical systems 

  • Develop and maintain executive-level reporting, dashboards, and program status communications 

  • Identify and mitigate risks specific to mission-critical infrastructure dependencies 

Business Development & Practice Growth 

  • Support identification and pursuit of new client opportunities and project pipeline 

  • Participate in proposal development, scoping, and pricing discussions for new engagements 

  • Build and maintain client relationships that lead to repeat and referral business 

  • Represent the practice in industry forums, client meetings, and business development activities 

  • Contribute to strategic planning for practice expansion and service line growth 

Process & Procedure Development 

  • Develop and refine standard processes, workflows, and governance frameworks for project delivery 

  • Create and maintain MOPs/SOPs, templates, and tools to support consistent, repeatable delivery 

  • Lead lessons-learned sessions and drive continuous process improvement across projects 

  • Establish program controls for cost tracking, schedule adherence, and quality management 

  • Support development of scalable delivery models as the practice grows 

Technical Expertise & Subject Matter Expertise 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting MEP systems, commissioning, and data center infrastructure initiatives 

  • Provide technical guidance and design coordination across project teams 

  • Evaluate facility conditions, infrastructure capacity, and operational readiness as needed 

  • Stay current on data center industry trends, technologies, and best practices 

  • Support technical due diligence efforts when required 

Stakeholder & Team Leadership 

  • Serve as primary point of contact for client executives and key stakeholders 

  • Coordinate cross-functional internal teams and external partners 

  • Mentor and develop junior project staff 

  • Facilitate communication and alignment across owner, contractor, and design teams 

General Tasks 

  • Lead and participate in project meetings, design reviews, and progress calls 

  • Prepare and review project documentation, schedules, budgets, and status reports 

  • Track action items, risks, and issues through resolution 

  • Review submittals, RFIs, and change orders as applicable to project role 

  • Coordinate site visits and represent the firm during key project milestones 

  • Support contract review and negotiation for project and subcontractor agreements 

  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation for internal and client use 

Qualifications 

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered 

Experience 

  • 20+ years of relevant experience in data center, mission-critical facility, or large-scale technology infrastructure project management 

  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or portfolio-scale programs 

  • Experience working with enterprise and/or hyperscale clients 

  • Track record of business development or practice growth contributions 

  • Experience developing program governance, processes, and standard operating procedures 

Technical Skills 

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems design, integration, and commissioning processes 

  • Familiarity with structured cabling, physical security, and related technology infrastructure systems 

  • Proficiency with project management and cost control platforms 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Google Suite; Bluebeam or similar tools a plus
