Job description

About the role

We are seeking a Data Center Civil Engineer to lead the interpretation and application of civil infrastructure requirements for Armada's modular data center deployments.

This role is focused on ensuring our standardized modules can be permitted, sited, and deployed across diverse jurisdictions without late-stage redesign. You will serve as the internal authority on civil site requirements, translating local codes, site constraints, and AHJ expectations into clear inputs for product, engineering, and delivery teams.

This is a strategic, cross-functional position at the intersection of civil infrastructure, permitting, and modular deployment execution

Location. This role is remote-based.

Travel. 30% or more

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Civil Requirements & Site Strategy

  • Own interpretation of civil and site development requirements impacting modular data center deployments, including:
  • Site preparation, grading, and access
  • Foundations, anchoring, and structural interfaces
  • Utility coordination (power, grounding, water, drainage)
  • Fire/life safety site considerations (setbacks, access, egress)
  • Evaluate jurisdiction-specific codes, permitting pathways, and AHJ expectations
  • Identify constraints affecting module siting, layout, and deployment feasibility
  • Support design development as needed by translating site conditions, permitting constraints, utility requirements, and constructability considerations into actionable inputs for engineering and external GC's/civil consultants.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with product, engineering, and delivery teams to:
  • Translate civil requirements into clear constraints, risks, and design inputs
  • Provide early-stage feasibility assessments and go/no-go recommendations
  • Prevent non-standard site conditions from driving late-stage design changes
  • Support customer deployments by:
  • Assessing site-specific civil readiness
  • Coordinating with OEM partners and local civil consultants
  • Advising on alignment with Armada's standard SKUs vs. required customization

Standards & Scalability

  • Develop and maintain:
  • Civil requirement guidelines for modular deployments
  • Site readiness and permitting checklists by geography
  • Documentation that standardizes civil assumptions across projects
  • Capture recurring requirements and regional patterns to:
  • Improve deployment speed and consistency
  • Inform product and platform evolution

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 6+ years in civil engineering, site development, or infrastructure delivery
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
  • Experience with data centers, critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to operate across permitting, site execution, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of:
  • Site development (grading, drainage, access, utilities)
  • Foundations and structural interfaces for prefabricated or modular systems
  • Utility coordination, especially electrical service and grounding
  • Fire/life safety considerations at the site level
  • Ability to interpret codes, standards, and AHJ requirements and translate them into actionable guidance

Compensation

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision (subsidized cost)
  • Health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), and dependent care FSAs (DCFSA)
  • Retirement plan options, including 401(k) and Roth 401(k)
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO)
  • 14 paid company holidays per year
