Position Title: COBOL Programmer
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $86,000 - $97,000
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required

Position Overview

Corinth is seeking an experienced COBOL Programmer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) client.

Required Qualifications

•       Must be US Citizen.

•       Must currently hold, or have held within the past 2 years, an active DoD Common Access Card (CAC); equivalent PIV credentials from other federal agencies are accepted provided they are backed by a final, favorably adjudicated Tier 3 (or higher) investigation.

•       Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (CCNA-Security, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CASP CE, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH).

•       Associate degree or higher.

•       10+ years experience working with COBOL programs integrated into enterprise systems.

•       Proficiency in ISPF and CICS for mainframe programming and application support.

•       Strong working knowledge of JCL, Flat-Files, CopyLibs, and database updates, including hierarchical (SUPRA) and modern database models.

•       Experience maintaining and enhancing applications using COBOL, MANTIS, JCL, and Assembler programming languages.

•       Familiarity with mainframe utilities and applications such as File Master, Test-rite, and SAR.

•       Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams throughout the development cycle.

•       Experience providing Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) support for sustainment projects, including development, testing, and maintenance of improvements.

•       Proven ability to compile accurate technical documentation and reports to support maintenance, audits, and user reference.

•       Hands-on experience with System Integration Testing (SIT) and System Acceptance Testing (SAT), including resolving Test Discrepancy Reports (TDRs).

•       Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

•       Collaborate with technical and functional analysts and end users to understand emerging business opportunities and troubleshoot incidents, ensuring effective IT application solutions.

•       Maintain and enhance system and application functionality using COBOL, MANTIS, JCL, and Assembler programming languages.

•       Develop, test, and implement mainframe applications leveraging ISPF, CICS, JCL, Flat-Files, CopyLibs, and both hierarchical (SUPRA) and modern database models.

•       Apply mainframe utility tools to support analysis, testing, and reporting activities.

•       Participate in requirements analysis, design, development, and testing activities with other technical teams.

•       Compile and maintain comprehensive documentation, reports, and artifacts for changes, testing, and audits.

•       Work with experienced team members to perform root cause analysis and participate in peer code reviews.
