Job description

Lead Software Developer

Lead Software Engineer - REMOTE - working on Pacific time
Up to $185,000 depending on skills and experience

We're seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of our home-grown B2C platform and related applications. This role combines daily coding with technical leadership, team development, and delivery oversight. You'll help complete platform rollout initiatives, improve system stability and scalability, and establish strong engineering practices that support growth and SOC 2 readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and ongoing enhancement of our platform and related applications.
  • Write, review, and deploy production code daily.
  • Drive platform stability, scalability, performance, and technical debt reduction.
  • Partner with Product Management to prioritize roadmaps and deliver high-impact features.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, including remote and offshore resources.
  • Support secure software development and audit-ready processes aligned with SOC 2 requirements.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering coding experience, including 2+ years in a lead or senior role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Experience leading development teams and improving existing codebases.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, CI/CD, testing, deployment processes, and secure development practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience with SOC 2 compliance or audit-focused engineering controls.
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with third-party integrations, scalable systems, and AI-assisted development tools.

Success in this role will be measured by successful product delivery, platform reliability, improved code quality, team performance, reduced technical debt, and readiness for SOC 2 compliance.
