NV5 is looking for a Sr. Survey Manager to join our West Coast Geomatics team. In this role, you will lead operations in our Washington service area while supporting Geomatics staff across other Mountain West and Pacific Northwest locations. The position can be based in one of our offices in Bothell, Olympia, Seattle, or Vancouver, WA.

As part of our growing West Coast Geomatics team, you will help expand our Washington and Pacific Northwest operations, oversee professional review of work products, manage office and field production, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will also support business development efforts across multiple business units, including preparing scopes of work, fee estimates, proposals, and fostering strong client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise project survey teams across urban, rural, and remote areas of Washington and the Pacific Northwest, including scheduling, coordination, and daily operations.
  • Manage diverse project types, including:
    • Control, Boundary, Subdivision, ALTA, Topographic & Design surveys
    • 3D Scanning and Modeling
    • Aerial Mapping Control and UAV LiDAR & Imagery surveys
    • Construction Staking (site development and highway)
    • Bathymetric Surveys
  • Oversee project management activities, including business development, quality control, project tracking, and client communication.
  • Provide professional and technical oversight, guidance, and mentorship to team members.
  • Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
  • Perform quality control checks on computations and final deliverables.
  • Conduct project research, logistics planning, and review plats and legal descriptions.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and project-specific safety plans.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To successfully perform this role, the individual must be able to meet each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. The qualifications listed below represent the required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Licensing:

  • Washington Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) registration required, or ability to obtain within 6 months. CFedS certification and PLS registration in adjacent states is highly desirable.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics (surveying) or a related program preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years in surveying and mapping, plus at least three (3) years of project management experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment and software preferred.
  • Experience with Civil3D (Version 2022 or newer); MicroStation Open Roads is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret survey drawings, plans, and specifications.

Knowledge:

  • Principles of monumentation, staking, and marking.
  • Advanced understanding of local survey laws, surveying principles, techniques, and procedures, as well as occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Software:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.

Communication:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective written and verbal communication abilities.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work productively and positively in both field and office settings.

Other Requirements:

  • Consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company insurability standards.

The pay range for this position in Washington is $130,000 to $180,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
