Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a full-time Remote Regional Genetic Program Counselor to join our team! This ideal candidate will reside in the Austin, Texas or Dallas Forth Worth (DFW) areas.
Please note: This role requires frequent travel to assigned clinics across the region.
The Regional Genetic Program Coordinator is a certified genetic counselor who works with the TX Oncology Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing or GREAT Program Director, Medical Director, 5 other Regional Genetic Program Coordinators, a GREAT program data coordinator and the Clinical Services Team to support multiple service delivery models with the goal of high quality cancer genetics care for Texas Oncology patients.

What does this position do?
The Regional GREAT Program Genetic Program Coordinator is a board-certified genetic counselor who provides operational and educational support to practice providers and clinics in their defined region. The Regional GREAT Genetic Coordinator provides competency in cancer genetics by offering educational and operational support to the practice sites that have active genetic programs or are initiating genetic programs. The regional manager ensures quality patient care, leads activities and operations associated with the provision of high quality and cost effect genetic counseling services. The regional program coordinator works with the Director of Genetics, other Regional GREAT Genetic Coordinator, GREAT Data coordinator, and the Clinical Services Team to support multiple service delivery models with the goal of high-quality cancer genetics care for practice patients. As needed the regional coordinator provides genetic counseling and education to individuals with a personal and/or family history of cancer. The regional manager supports and adheres to the US Oncology (USON) Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Standards.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities:

• Support the GREAT Program in assigned region (50% of time)
• Responsible for managing and mentoring GREAT providers in their region to ensure quality genetics care.
• Facilitate advanced hereditary cancer training and education to Texas Oncology APPs and physicians, including, didactic sessions and preceptorship during genetics appointments.
• Provide operational onboarding and education to clinic sites with a GREAT-trained provider.
• Ongoing support of GREAT providers with complex cases, and in staying up to date on important clinical changes.
• Collaborate with regional clinicians and staff to create efficient and effective workflows for genetic evaluation and testing.
• Liaise with genetic testing laboratories to assist with dissemination of important information and updates to sites.
• Completes annual chart reviews to monitor GREAT Program providers and offer education and improvement recommendations as needed.
• Provides leadership and direction to the overall provision of genetic counseling services to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and programming. Ensure proper genetic counseling coverage within the region.
• Monitors responses and communications to site of service-initiated concerns ensuring professional and timely follow up.
• Complete projects to enhance the GREAT Program (40% of time)
• Develop ongoing educational curriculum for GREAT providers.
• Maintain and update genetic resources for providers and patients.
• Develop and maintain Volpara genetics database and patient portal.
• Collaborates with Precision Medicine to improve efficiency and standardization of data collection.
• Contributes to the development and maintaining of standards, policies, and procedures regarding hereditary cancer genetic counseling and testing.
• Proactively identifies process and procedure gaps and develops tools/plans projects to improve efficiencies.
• Research projects assessing our alternative service delivery model, patient outcomes and quality improvement.
• Advise leadership on evolving trends that impact the GREAT program in their regions.
• As appropriate, supervise genetic counseling student interns.
• Work with marketing and liaisons to increase referrals of new patients to the GREAT program.
• Participation in USON GREAT Program (5%)
• Involvement in the USON GREAT Steering Committee, its Annual Genetic (GREAT) Education Conference, its Genetic (GREAT) Monthly Case Conferences and its genetic (GREAT) subcommittees as needed.
• Direct Patient care (0-10%)
• Provides direct patient care as needed. Provides genetic counseling to patients and families with personal or family history of cancer. Collects medical and family information from patients. Develops detailed pedigree and model analysis to analyze inheritance patients and assess risk for a hereditary cancer syndrome and risk for cancer. Coordinates genetic testing, including obtaining insurance approvals as needed. Reviews results with patients, physicians, nurses, social workers and other clinicians and participates in the development of treatment plans as appropriate. Provides long term follow up to patients as necessary.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following background and experience:

• Masters Degree in Medical Genetics/Counseling including clinical experience from an accredited genetics counseling training program
• Board certified (or eligibility for certification) from the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics.
• No experience required. Minimum three (3) years as a practicing genetic-counselor is preferred.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hereditary cancer risk assessment programs (example: Tyer Cuzick) and pedigree drawing software (e: CRA Health or Progeny) is preferred.
