What is a remote generative AI engineer?

A Remote Generative AI Engineer is a technology professional who specializes in developing, training, and deploying artificial intelligence models that can generate new content—such as text, images, audio, or video—while working from a remote location. These engineers typically work with advanced machine learning techniques like deep learning, neural networks, and large language models. Their responsibilities often include designing algorithms, optimizing model performance, and collaborating with distributed teams to build innovative AI-driven solutions. The remote aspect allows them to perform their duties from anywhere with internet access, offering flexibility and access to global opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote generative AI engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Generative AI Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science, machine learning, and deep learning, typically with a relevant degree and experience in building AI models. Familiarity with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), and version control systems like Git is essential. Strong problem-solving, self-motivation, and effective remote communication set outstanding engineers apart in this role. These skills are crucial for developing innovative AI solutions, collaborating across distributed teams, and delivering impactful results in a remote work environment.

How do remote generative AI engineers typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-driven solutions?

Remote Generative AI Engineers often work closely with data scientists, product managers, and software engineers to integrate generative AI models into products or services. Collaboration is usually facilitated through virtual meetings, code repositories, and project management tools, enabling seamless communication across different time zones. Regular check-ins and sprint reviews help ensure alignment on goals, while documentation and clear communication are essential for maintaining project momentum. This collaborative environment not only fosters innovation but also allows engineers to gain exposure to a variety of perspectives and expertise.

Job description

AI Solutions Architect

Location: Remote (candidates in the Dallas, TX or Pittsburgh, PA areas strongly preferred)
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
Employment Type: W2 only. No C2C candidates.

Role Objective:
CEI America is seeking an experienced AI Solutions Architect to design, lead, and scale enterprise AI solutions for our clients. This role owns the end to end architecture of AI/ML systems, from strategy and solution design through deployment, and serves as the technical authority guiding both internal delivery teams and client stakeholders on best in class, production ready AI implementations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect scalable AI/ML solutions, including generative AI, LLM based applications, and machine learning pipelines, aligned to client business objectives.
  • Lead technical strategy for AI platform selection, model architecture, data pipeline design, and MLOps practices.
  • Partner with data engineers, solution architects, and delivery teams to ensure AI solutions are secure, scalable, and production ready.
  • Serve as the client facing technical expert during presales, discovery, and solution design engagements.
  • Evaluate and recommend AI/ML frameworks, cloud AI services (Azure AI, AWS, GCP), and tooling based on client needs.
  • Establish architectural standards, governance, and best practices for AI model development, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Guide integration of AI solutions with existing enterprise systems and data infrastructure.
  • Stay current on emerging AI/ML technologies and provide thought leadership internally and externally.
  • Mentor technical teams on AI architecture patterns and responsible AI practices.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in software/data architecture, with 4+ years focused specifically on AI/ML architecture.
  • Proven hands on experience architecting and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments, not just proof of concept work.
  • Strong expertise in at least one major cloud platform's AI/ML stack (Azure AI, AWS SageMaker, or Google Vertex AI).
  • Experience with LLMs, generative AI frameworks, and modern ML architectures (e.g., RAG, vector databases, fine tuning).
  • Solid understanding of MLOps, data pipelines, and enterprise data architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting technical solutions to executive and client stakeholders.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a W2 basis. No Corp to Corp (C2C) candidates.

Why This Role Matters
This role is central to CEI's AI native transformation strategy, ensuring clients receive architecturally sound, scalable, and responsibly governed AI solutions that drive real business impact.
