Job description

This is a paid freelance and remote position.
ScreenRant is the #1 entertainment website and publishes up-to-the-minute news on blockbuster movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, music and other forms of entertainment.
As a worldwide leader, ScreenRant operates at a rapid pace and is always looking for experienced and passionate contributors who can create original high-quality content in a timely manner.
We are seeking a Gaming Technology Writer to cover the intersection of gaming and technology-from next-gen console news and rumours to AI-driven game design, emerging gaming technologies, and the evolving tech landscape shaping the future of play.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Write in ScreenRant's house style following the training and peer mentorship period
  • Stay on top of all the latest next-gen console news, leaks, and rumours-particularly PlayStation 6, Xbox Helix, and any emerging platform announcements-and deliver timely, well-sourced coverage
  • Cover major console and hardware release news (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam Deck, etc.)
  • Report on AI in gaming, including procedural generation, NPC behaviour, AI-assisted game design, and industry adoption of generative AI tools
  • Track and analyse emerging gaming technologies such as cloud gaming, ray tracing advancements, haptic feedback innovations, VR/AR/MR headsets, and gaming peripherals
  • Brainstorm, pitch, and develop original content ideas that sit at the intersection of gaming and technology
  • Translate complex technical concepts into engaging, accessible articles for a broad gaming audience
  • Monitor industry events (E3, Gamescom, GDC, CES) and deliver timely coverage of announcements and hands-on impressions
  • Accept and apply feedback from the editorial team
  • Communicate actively with the Editorial Team

What We Offer:
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Consistent and timely payments.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Exposure to ScreenRant's large and passionate audience, providing you an exciting opportunity to make a genuine impact.

Experience and Skills:
  • Expert in writing gaming technology content-hardware reviews, tech deep-dives, or industry analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English Literature, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with a credible digital publication covering gaming, technology, or both
  • Strong working knowledge of current and upcoming gaming hardware, platforms, and the technologies that power them-including active awareness of next-gen console cycles, rumours, and spec leaks
  • Ability to break down technical topics (GPU architectures, networking infrastructure, AI models) into reader-friendly content
  • A quick learner with a strong sense of urgency and drive
  • Excellent command of written English, free of grammatical and spelling errors
  • Ability to produce high-quality articles with fast turnaround times
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment

Assets:
  • Experience covering AI/ML topics in the gaming or broader tech space
  • Familiarity with game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) and how technical advancements affect development workflows
  • An established portfolio or byline history at recognised tech or gaming outlets
