Job description


The Preferred Distribution Supply Chain Manager is responsible for team leadership, critical supplier relationship management, and purchasing execution oversight electronic components and connectorsfor multiple BAE Systems' factory locations across our Electronics Systems sector. Internal customer service mindset and clear supplier management improvement prioritization will be at the center of this work environment. Collaboration with Category Management peers, programs and business areas, as well as cross-functional stakeholders, will be required to be successful in this role.
Performance
  • Provide vision and leadership to assist the team in meeting performance objectives, including:
    • Supplier Delivery Performance, material cost productivity, transactional automation growth, integrated supplier service model value, along with a set of leading indicator KPIs
  • Develop and communicate 1-5 year vision and strategy in accountable areas that supports the business competitiveness and growth objective.
  • Ensure effective systems and frameworks are in place to support team performance objectives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and procurement procedures
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the procurement team.
Relationships
  • Sector wide focal for critical Supplier Relationship Management
  • Collaborate with category management personnel on process and project work
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, internal and external
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including planning, materials, engineering, program management, manufacturing, and logistics, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Team Leadership
  • Maintain a team that is structured and staffed correctly
  • Continuously evaluate and develop skillsets both individually and as a collective team
  • Identify and drive development needs, including coaching, mentoring and training requirements
  • Drive collaboration within team and with other teams
  • Define and clarify roles and responsibilities for team
  • Collaborate with other team leaders, when necessary, to ensure team is supported with adequate staff/resources
  • Establish an effective communications framework throughout the team

Required Skills and Education
  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a large, complex, multifaceted electronics manufacturing environment

  • Strong business acumen with excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. Ability to successfully interface with various leadership teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Familiarity with defense aerospace industry & regulations and the understanding of the role of procurement in complex industries.
  • General awareness of FAR and DFAR regulations and the nature of flow down requirements.
    • Knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation) and EAR (Export Administration Regulation)
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, (IE: Oracle, SAP, etc.)
  • Technical Background, comfort with translating technical requirements into action within the supply base.
  • 10 plus years' experience in operations, supply chain, procurement, supplier quality.
